I actually had that game as a kid. It was kind of okay (barely). Most of Superman's powers were in it, and some of the parts seemed to be inspired by the movies (in the third part of the game you end up fighting a giant computer that's been manipulating stock prices, which is kind of like Superman III).

Zeeman posted:Are Zoara or Jay Falk supposed to be actual comic characters? Also, Ghost Cat deserves a full company crossover where it's the villain. I'm trying to figure out Zoara, but I think it'd be a safe bet to assume she's just a misspelled version of Faora, according to whose wiki page: Wikipedia posted:Following the Crisis on Infinite Earths, another Faora (renamed Zaora) appeared in the Pocket Universe created by the Time Trapper, along with General Zod and Quex-Ul.[3] The three tricked the Pocket Universe's Lex Luthor into releasing them from the Phantom Zone. After the Pocket Earth's population continued to resist their conquest of it, the three villains destroyed the atmosphere, killing almost all life. From what I find, though, those issues were released circa Fall of 1988 and the NES game came out in the US around Dec 1988, but it was released in Japan a year earlier in Dec 1987. (Jay Falk, however, apparently makes his debut in May 1987) It's possible that the member of the Zoddo Trio is "Ursa" of the films and Zoara is being treated as "Faora/Zaora" of the comics. If we could find a Japanese copy of the instructions, it might have a different name listed for the character if she was originally something else entirely, though. To throw another oddity of around the same time the game and the Zaora rename in the comic occurred, a new animated (and short-lived) Superman show started on CBS during Fall of 1988 where Zod's team consisted of Ursa and Faora. The Superman game is pretty fun for what it is. My local video store when I was a kid had a copy that was bugged where you'd never lose your final pip of health on the life bar, so you could just go forever giving pansy punches as clark kent to the whole universe. You needed x-ray vision to see the ghosts however, so I got stuck partway through. Funny enough the copy of Battle Of Olympus (the Greek Mythology flavored Zelda 2 knockoff) I bought from a separate closing mom and pop had the same bug in it.

Injustice 2 #4 Context: Several years before the first game's story took place, Superman snapped and beat Green Arrow to death. Black Canary (pregnant with Ollie's baby) plotted to take Superman down the following year. She failed and was horribly wounded. Dr. Fate decided he couldn't sit back and allow her to die, so he smuggled her into another dimension where that world's Dinah Lance died years earlier, leaving behind a grieving Oliver Queen. The two fell for each other and raised Dinah's child in that dimension. With Superman's regime taken down, Dinah and Oliver are brought to the Injustice universe where Batman is trying to rebuild the world with the help of the late Lex Luthor's fortune and a list of allies.
