His eyes flared wide, his mouth snapped shut, and he leaped to his feet as if his years were but months. He cast his eyes around, from face to face, his breathing quickened. He raised his arms and spoke in a voice never heard before… “The Death claimed the Gods. The Rainbow Death! Children given the power of men. Women too. The power of men removed from men. The silence deepened, as the shaman saw his vision, and grasped for understanding. Finally he spoke, his voice the voice of reason, once more. “They died because they did not care about living. Life, to them, became so lacking in value, that they simply stopped living.” He stopped, again, as he decided what he must do, with this new revelation. Here was nothing to be revered and retold. This was ugliness beyond ugly. There was no good in it. It was time to let the age of wonder go. This time, forever. With great sadness, and great resolve, he gathered himself and spoke one last time. “The Gods were not Gods at all. They were less than us. They were finished with living, long before they no longer lived. They fell from The Way, and did not care. And so they died. This, I know, is the way of it, for I have seen it, finally. And so, each one of us, may give these ghosts their final rest. By never speaking of them again. Our lives are hard, and our rewards are few. We must toil to live, and live to toil. Yet in this, we are richer, by far, than the ancients. For we know this thing, while they allowed themselves to forget. So, henceforth, we will tell this tale no more. The intersection of all these weird fandoms/memes/obscure niches in academia, etc. among the alt-right fascinates me. My Little Pony and Hitler? Pick-up artists and monarchist philosophers? Pepe and Trump and evangelical Christianity? I mean it makes more and more sense every day (that video by Shaun really helped), but who could have predicted the bizarre alchemy by which all this coalesced? The role of anime, in particular, draws so much morbid curiosity from me. What was it in those shows (Naruto? Bleach I"m assuming?) that prepared these young men for this world view? Why do they spend so much effort detailing why or why not various manga are redpilled? loving weird. These brutal young fucks are peeping out of every cupboard and mouse hole imaginable, but there's one bastion of devilry I haven't heard mentioned yet: high school debate classes. I'm convinced that the binary, pedantic, devil's-advocacy perfected in debate classes all across our fair dystopia are key to understanding these loving creeps.

Naruto and Bleach both had portions that were very bad, especially towards the end, and Naruto in particular was sometimes fairly sexist, but they don't really have anything to do with the alt-right in themselves. (I think most anime avatars used by fascists on twitter are more likely to be moeblob girls from slice-of-life or harem anime, which probably genuinely is ideologically significant.) Neither does Pepe, really; there was an article somewhere or other that suggested that the :feelsgoodman: scene is key to understanding the alt-right, but they really latched onto it mainly because it was a meme that was popular on 4chan and then started catching on with the "normies," so they decided to "reclaim" it from the "normies."

The answer's pretty simple - the alt-right are young Internet Nazis, and so their worldview is filtered through Internet pop-culture. Anime is popular and very easily available for free on the Internet - for a while, in fact, it was easier to find than Western media, because of less aggressive and enthusiastic copyright protection (because anime companies didn't really give a poo poo what the English-speaking Internet was doing with their stuff). Therefore, anime Nazis. Anime didn't make these kids Nazis (well, maybe the occasional show pushed the occasional alt-righter further along his path, but it wasn't, like, a widespread pattern) - it just shaped the language of the broader culture they inhabit.
