Quest For Glory II posted:As animecation nears its end I started on poco's udon world and its cute as gently caress I enjoyed Poco's Udon World, the only gripes I had with it were it's cheap animation (Though not a deal breaker, especially when it's fairly adorable, and I loved the crayon style for the Gao-chan segments) and an ending that, while not bad, went in a different direction than what I had though (and hoped) the show was going towards. It just fell short of my top 5 of 2016, but was definitely in my top 10.

El Burbo posted:I didn't finish it how did it end This is going off of memory, so there's probably a few gaps/errors, but w/e: Poco and Souta are at a festival, and Poco's identity gets exposed on camera in front of a bunch of people including Souta's family and friends. Poco then runs away, remembering his promise to dissappear if discovered (also he's been having more and more trouble staying human, as it requires tremendous amounts of magic energy/stamina). Souta regrets that and tries to find him. Poco uses his tanuki magic to show him how Souta got injured as a teen by blocking a tanuki from getting hit by a car, and how Poco watched over Souta and his father ever since, and then allows for Souta to have a one on one talk with his dead dad, wrapping up loose ends regarding their feelings, and then Poco disappears forever, but imparts a message of how family is always living on through you, in your heart. Souta stays in his hometown, but is doing what he loves to do (website programing and such), occasionally making udon from his father's recipies, but no, the restaurant never reopens. There's more to it than that, and I still really enjoyed it, and the ending message is fine, but it didn't feel like that was the direction the show was heading towards until that last episode.
