Holy poo poo I had one stuck in an 8-track player in my room as a teenager

I never actually owned or played an 8-track, just this big tape deck adapter monstrosity sticking out of the 8-track hole.

And under the turntable I kept my skin mags. You had to disassemble the bottom of the turntable to get to them. It was the only way to keep them safe.

I have no idea what happened to any of that stuff. I hope someone got a crappy turntable from a church sale or something and discovered the stash of 80s porn in it.

I've still got one of those tape adapters, but that's only cause family business is used cars. . . so tape only shows up sort of frequently and radio around here blows goats when having to drive them back from the auction.

so the pyramid scheme is one thing, but how did it get funded so quickly? $750k in less than a day for an mmo in 2017? is this a money laundering scheme on top of a pyramid scheme?

The internet is basically a giant pyramid scheme. The ones who get in early get rich, the ones who get in later get hosed.

So do you want to get rich, or do you want to get hosed?

Same here, but the wheels kept jamming up in the tape so the tape player in my car would kick in its auto reserve feature all the time, so it was horrible.

that happened to my tape adapter on a road trip and it was driving me insane that every song was like 20 seconds of music then *cut out* CLICK VRRRR KSHNK CLACK WRRRRR CLAK *music back* so i pried it open with a screwdriver and took out all the little gears and put it back together and it's worked perfectly ever since.

My buddy's car had a missing cig lighter, and the cig lighter hole was straight up and down on the little section between seats. A quarter fell down there, blew the fuse, and just sort of made the bottom of that hole its new home.

The heating process of almost 25ml of liquid from 15/20 degrees up to 50/60 degrees will happen in an estimated time between 5 and 8 seconds.

(setting aside that i don't think you can brew coffee at 60C)

water requires 4.19kJ/kg to increase its temperature by 1K

0.025kg of water being raised 45 degrees requires 4.71kJ. for comparison, the iphone 6's battery stores 6.6 watt-hours of electrical energy, or 23.7 kilojoules. "making" "coffee" with this case consumes 20% of the iphone's charge (actually more since I'm ignoring efficiency).

a further issue is that applying 4.71kJ in 5 seconds works out to approx. 900 watts -- ninety times the USB power spec, and roughly on the order of the power drawn by a small microwave oven. so if the heater were used continuously, the iphone's battery would be completely drained in 26 seconds. but that is not possible. a modern high-energy lithium cell can discharge safely up to around 10 times its capacity per hour -- the 6.6Wh battery could discharge at a rate of 66 watts. exceeding this discharge rate for even a brief time risks overheating, thermal runaway, and battery explosion. the calculated rate of discharge required to meet the stated performance figures is fifteen times the maximum safe rate.

also, all of their concepts are blatantly 3d printed. they didn't even bother to sand or paint them to look like real prototypes.

why are these things allowed on kickstarter again?
