except for the whole "lol windows janitoring" thing, you can still disable cortana via GPO in creator's update

i thought they had only removed the UI option. also i have pro, with cortana disabled by gpo, and cortana is still disabled after installing creator's update

is it actually doing anything? like if you hit the search button (which should look like a magnifying glass, not a ring) does cortana come up or does it just do a basic search?
|
# ? May 3, 2017 02:37 |
|
Basic search, so I guess it's technically disabled. Shouldn't be running in the bg imo tho
|
# ? May 3, 2017 02:38 |

the named process runs, but cortana isn't the search hook and isn't collecting any data

|
# ? May 3, 2017 02:38 |

so it has none of the "cortana" features and doesn't collect data or integrate with any online repository, but the process name is the same so i guess it's the same thing then?

well, except when it doesn't, like office and each app's million different ways of handling the myriad data types windows will allow in the clipboard, and also poo poo that breaks because of some half-transition to a new window/process model (like excel) but yeah, it works perfectly, except when it doesn't. much like the windowing model itself.

Ditto owns for productivity. I bound CTRL + ~ to pop-up a list of recent copied items and select which I'd like to paste. It stores image data as well as proper formatting and the ability to regex search your copied history and store it in a localdb.

stop inventing problems, then making programs that solve those imaginary problems the only problem i have with copy-pasting is when the formatting of the text gets copied along with the text itself
