Did we just get out-coached by Alain Vigneault? What does Bruce do differently, and for god's sake don't say "Sit Claesson dress Borowiecki" because I'm pretty sure I'm still drunk from watching whatever that was last night as it is.

one thing i love about playoff hockey is that when a team is under a microscope you can go in a matter of a few short days from the dominant take outside of rangers fans being "alain vigneault is obviously not your problem, what the hell are you doing criticising him" to "it's absolutely shocking that alain vigneault did something right"

for the record i'm not making fun of the post quoted above, i'm just saying that i'm glad people have noticed what i've been saying all along about AV's roster management problems

i'd really like it if they could put clendening in for holden because he's very good with soft assignments (and better than holden even without) but i'm glad there's at least been some adjustment

That monument is ugly as hell and right by Interstate 65. It was not constructed by the state, it is on private property and was put up by some crazy racist guy. When the Dylan Roof shooting happened there was an effort to get a bunch of trees and bushes planted in front of the site so that the view of it would be obstructed but that didn't pass because the government is controlled by Republicans. It is full of bullet holes and all the flags behind it are worn down or destroyed. Its an embarrassment every time I have to drive by it.

my take: there is NO adjustment -- the game was never close so AV saw no reason to put more minutes than necessary on his preferred pairing of staal - holden.

AV has a knee jerk "must play the 'reliable defensive pairing' if the game is close" which is yeah why they suddenly got a lot of minutes in game 2 when things got close. Which is funny because I think he knows that Skjei-Smith is better than Staal-Holden but it's like he can't handle the thought of them making any "risky" plays if the score is close and instead wants the safe guys who can't give up the puck because they suck at getting the puck

that's a decent point but the discrepancy in minutes between mcdonagh and girardi i think shows some improvement (considering there was very little PP time in the game generally)

Kane and Toews did a clip for NHL 11 but it was pretty garbage because it was clearly scripted.

Which is the problem with that sort of thing, if it's done for public consumption it's going to be squeaky clean so no one gets offended.

From what I've seen of Nashville, it looks like a honky-tonk, country music version of Columbus, only the latter doesn't have any shrines celebrating the South.

e- I'm trying to validate this by looking through the photo gallery of things to do on VisitMusicCity.com and the photo slideshow is like that South Park parody alcohol ad: "Country! Music! Live music! Country music! Music that is country! A bar! Did you know there's country music here? Obscure hot chicken! Honky-tonk! Opryland! Midwest! Twang!" No mention of the psychopath riding the horse with his firearm, though.

Country is certainly a part of nashville, but it's really not the entire city at all. It's just the 5 blocks downtown and few blocks on 2nd and 3rd. Otherwise, it actually has a legit diverse amount of music.

I'm just saying, I lived there 5 years, I hate country, and just avoided country. And if you are forced to be downtown, or want to walk to a bar after the Preds game, it isn't anything groundbreaking, but Broadway Brewhouse is at least a normal bar in the sea of terrible country.

haha I've seen one of those and had to do a double take. I think part of the problem is that you don't really see a way to turn on the water at first glance so it doesn't register that it's a place where you can wash your hands.

seeing urinals next to it though should clue you in to it not being a place to piss

anyways have some hot takes

quote:

Tom in Irwin: [Matt] Niskanen knew what he was doing, just didn’t probably knew exactly where he was hitting him. The bigger criminal here, I don’t care what anybody says, is [Alex] Ovechkin. The Penguins won’t do it, but dress [enforcer Tom] Sestito and make a run at Ovechkin, and keep running at him until he’s out of the game.

quote:

Chris in Johnsonburg: The biggest criminal [was] Barry Trotz, dressing all those defensemen. He should be taken to jail in Pittsburgh on Thursday night, or someone should fly into the bench and hit that fat bastard. He is the worst coach in hockey. And Ovechkin should be taken out, as long as somebody doesn’t lose five games by doing it.

Andrew in Washington: It starts with Trotz. Trotz is a criminal, he’s a thug.
