i love all the people whining about the removal of passive moon mining even better are the folks who don't seem to be able to conceive of an alliance funding source outside of moons, and are expecting their alliance to gang-press them into mining everything about refineries is amazing and ccp can't bring them into the game sooner

I played this game for like, all of two weeks about ten years ago with goons but someone was always yelling some horseshit and taking things too seriously for me to casually play this space drama creator. How up to date is the stuff on the OP -- should I use it as a guide or nah?

I wish there were a limited number of factory and refinery slots. Want more capacity? Build more structures. Unlimited makes for uninterdictable local production. The number of slots could even be high. Infinite is just dumb though.

The CSM voting data got released. Some highlights: * Our #3, Sullen Decimus, gets eliminated with a 76 vote margin. Then, in the very next round, The Judge is elected on a CO2 ticket that would have granted significant spillover to Sullen if he hadn't been eliminated. * Bobmon gets a mere 127 first-ticket votes, down from 500+ last year. Not only does this put him at a quarter of the first-ticket votes that Xenuria managed to garner, but shows just how cheap a CSM seat can be when A) there's 14 seats and not 10, and 2) you have a wealthy casino rigging the vote a little. * Pandemic Horde engages in Mutually Assured Destruction with DARKNESSdot. Brave Newbie's candidate, Yukiko Animename, starts out the running with a fairly anemic 793 votes, which is far below Pandemic Horde's Kalbuir Skirate (1326.) However, as fringe candidates are eliminated, Animename appears to have been everyone's #2, and in the second-to-last round he or she narrowly dodges being eliminated by 61 votes, and phorde's candidate is axed instead. Kalbuir's votes are largely straight phorde ticket, which has Animename as their #2, and Sort Dragon as their #3. This causes a thousand votes to spill over to Animename, catapulting him or her 900 votes above Sort Dragon. This causes Sort to be eliminated in the last round, and Animename barely survives, leaving a CSM with neither phorde nor DARKNESSdot represented.

CCP could even do things like make reinforced structures lose active slots or something. Farms and fields and all that. E.g. Let's say you have 10 structures in a system with 50 slots each, for a total of 500 slots. ~wulfpax~ could roam in, reinforce a few, and reduce the number of active production slots to 400, cutting production capacity by 20%. I don't think such a thing would be a killer feature or anything, but more ways for players to interact is usually a good thing.

Although in light of Mitten's laudations along with Stunt's celebratory welcome to GSF, I guess you could forgive some people for expecting something strategic/fun/cost-effective. Gwyneth Palpate posted:Passive alliance-level income must be eradicated for Eve to thrive. Passive income makes it sound like there are no barriers to entry and it's a fire-and-forget ISK printing situation, which isn't necessarily the case. That being said, they've only gone so far as to replace the passive process with an active one. Probably the greatest amount of change is going to derive from the way alliances choose to handle the change from passive to active processes. What sort of ownership right is conveyed to a person who just mines the goo, as opposed to the guy who shelled out for the station and the fuel and whatever else you need to blow up part of a moon? Yes, there are people who do crazy amounts of organization-level work for basically no reward, but actually undocking and going out to suck that r64 moon rock is labor (the same way ratting or mining are). So do you salary people to suck moon goo? Do you let them keep the fruits of their labor and buy it from them with a buyback or market orders? Do people willing to do the work get rewarded in other ways? Even if GSF settles on a very straightforward policy for controlling or devolving the goo or whatever, it's going to be really interesting to see how other alliances handle it and if that results in some alliances losing their core industry and logistics people [because someone is absolutely going to gently caress it up].
