Kevlar v2.0 posted:I remember a while back there was a White Sox fan goon who couldn't use his tickets to a game at the Cell because he was stuck at work, so he offered them up in the N/V thread. A Cubs fan goon took the ticket and it ended up being Buehrle's perfect game. I came within 3 feet of getting hit by Jim Thome's home run that went out of Jacobs Field. My buddy gave me tickets for the next day's game by accident, and as I was dejectedly walking away from the gate I heard a "thud" and turned around to see a ball bounding past past me. Someone else got it before I could

On the topic of best baseball memories, I'd say seeing Rick Ankiel before he hit the majors and being a big fan, then watching his first game, his comeback, meeting various Cardinals players over the years, having dinner with Tony La Russa once, and all the various WS games I've been to at Busch. As for the worst memories, it would be Ankiel's last game as a pitcher, his last game ever, and probably the time I lost a foul ball to another kid when I was 7. I just really like Rick Ankiel, ok.

I've only ever gone to a bunch of boring-rear end regular season Mariners games. The only notable one is when my family went to an April game against the Blue Jays a few years ago for my dad's birthday. The Mariners went down 7-0 before my dad said that was enough and we left. Of course, the Mariners rallied to win the game and we got home just in time to watch the finish on TV.

The weirdest game I ever went to was a Red Sox Jays game, where I was about 5 rows up from home plate. Daniel Bard was starting for the Red Sox and he had no idea where the ball was going. He hit 3 batters and walked 4 or 5 more and I was shocked he didn't kill someone 30 feet in front of me. He was sent down the next day and I don't think he ever started again.

The Rangers are really bad and also have some key injuries. I'm almost ready to just start the firesale now to maximize the return. Sell off Darvish, Gomez, and Lucroy, take whatever you can get for Napoli. Listen to offers on Bush/Cashner/Ross (and consider doing the same on Beltre/Hamels when they come back).

lol if you think you're getting anything for Napoli They also absolutely have to hold onto Lucroy for at least long enough to let him try to pull out of this slump Gomez has reverted to his Astros form right down to striking out to end the game swinging at absolutely everything and then not bothering to run to first after the dropped third strike with the tying run on third base

I'm not denying that the O's and Bautista don't get along but to claim it's just because he's Dominican is asinine when a) the Orioles' best player is of Dominican heritage and b) Encarnacion is also Dominican and he doesn't have anything near the heat with the O's that Bautista does.

It was a joke. I dont believe it was literally about the fact he comes from the Dominican versus Puerto Rico vs Texas vs Canada. I was just making a joke about its annoying to hear it from an Orioles player because like essentially all teams in the MLB, they also play the bullshit lets try to injure position players using our pitchers game. Even the Jays do it sometimes which I find extremely embarassing. In fact, I wonder if there is a single team in the MLB that has not done a retaliatory HPB (or thrown-behind threat) in the past five years.

I know I'm way late to this, but I was at the San Diego Padres game where they retired Trevor Hoffman's number. Jack McKeon on the Marlins ended up calling for a five-man infield in the 9th after Heath Bell 100%-expectedly hosed up a save. It was amazing.

It's more of that unwritten rulebook of baseball that ruins the whole drat game. poo poo, Rangers fans rallied around Odor punching Bautista, and that was kinda cool I admit, but the antics it took to get there annoyed the poo poo out of me. You can hate another player without throwing 100 mph weapons at their body, or sliding into their knee. At that point it's less a game and more a slightly more civilized bit of UFC, and gently caress that nonsense. I guess what I'm trying to say is: fans are all stupid and will cheer on anything their team does, right or wrong. It's on the teams and the league to get this kind of tomfoolery out of the game for good.
