I feel as though an actress being forced to have plastic surgery and wear makeup to appear white and then having brownface applied over that to portray her birth ethnicity in a movie could fit into either discussion, but point taken.

I didn't know she had to be re-ethnitized to play her actual ethnicity after they made her white by burning off her hairline. That's more hosed up than regular hosed-up.

Lena longed to play Julie in "Show Boat" (a light skinned black woman) but got rejected. She got rejected in favor of her very white, tonedeaf, best friend ava Gardner who got the exact same "darkening" makeup that she herself usually got. She also, along with fellow black actress Dorothy Dandrigde, got rejected in favor of a blond white woman for the leading role in "Pinky" about a lightskinned black woman passing as a white woman. It would be kind of cool to compare that to the whole Nina Simone biopic, where instead of getting a great actress with darker features they opted to darken Zoe Saldanas skin and give her a prosthetic nose. Really ironic for a biopic about someone who struggled so greatly with being a very (black looking)"unattractive" , darkskinned entertainer. But seriously listen to You Must Remember This. For the longest time the only review was by some dude who gave it one star due to the "political left leaning agenda". Dude you're listening to a podcast that has child actresses getting raped and drugged, gay people and POCs getting ostracized, and an entire series on loving Mccarthyisme happening. Hollywood and movies have in no way ever been political and not peachy in anyway, yessireee. Good to see so many 5 star reviewson it now though.

I recommended it in another thread but the YMRT series Charles Manson's Hollywood is essentially a fantastic longform for people like me who don't have the patience to read longforms. I'd say listen to the one-off episode Frank Sinatra In Space to get a taste and then either Charles Manson's Hollywood or MGM Stories.

I liked that the Y-L vid brought up a point about how going into a different area/cell separate from an overworld has a specific feeling and is probably why BOTW and areas therein can seem small. Because everything in the game has to be open-air we can't get houses or caves with gigantic insides as easily as we could in a game that would just teleport you to another cell.

Y-L's entire problem is that people believe Banjo Kazooie was better than it actually was. Every "fault" that Yooka Laylee has existed in the old games as well (except the voices are more grating but that's getting patched.). Its a near perfect spiritual successor to a game type that doesn't seem to be nearly as popular nowadays.
