Hot pot is bad for drinking because it doesn't line your stomach, and you end up half cut because you've spent 30 minutes watching noodles and raw meat boil. Uigher food is the way to go for drinking. Get one of those using bread as a plate pizza for the food with the meat and peppers and onions cut on top and you're there. Hot pot is some bullshit too long weak rear end meal for boring people waiting to stave off the inevitable ktv trip where they sing the same songs. Hai de lao hotpot has fantastic service tho, and are a bright shining light of service in the Chinese restaurant world.

peanut posted:someone w experience please describe the differences between chinese hot pot, japanese nabe and korean chige thx Chinese hot pots are all different types of broths that you boil food in and then eat the food. Most of them you don't eat the broth. Nabe is more of a stew where you eat the whole thing. Jjigae is a soup or stew that is cooked in the kitchen and brought out, you don't put anything in it. Sometimes it's cooked at the table.

"Ruth Lee, a hostess at a Chinese restaurant, flies a Chinese flag so she isn’t mistaken for Japanese when she sunbathes on her days off in Miami, in the wake of the attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 15, 1941" And Chinese-Americans passed out pins saying they were Chinese so laowai wouldn't mistake them for Ribenese. I bet we could put this one a t-shirt and sell it to tourists.

Best Hot Pot is Hunan where the whole bowl is covered in red chilis and none of those bullshit Sichuan peppers. Unfortunately its really bad meal if you plan to start drinking heavily since youre likely to give up and start drinking long before you have food ready to eat and its mot super harty.

I don't get it. The meats are these thinly sliced things that don't have much flavor, and the vegetables are just... water cooked vegetables. But it ends up being really expensive. More than a sushi buffet.

Good hot pot can be nice, but you need good company and PATIENCE. Patience is a motherfucking VIRTUE you savages. Of course bad hot pot is diarrhoea in, diarrhoea out.

Man, Haier. You really need to step up your game, dude. I bet that English professor has probably been with a fraction of the girls you have and yet his story trumps anything I've read of yours. As an aside, stories like that and all the other BUSINESS IN CHINA stories are a really good primer in why unfettered capitalism is basically the most evil thing one can imagine. Like according to ding-a-ling libertarians, restaurants giving people diarrhea and causing life changing injuries should just completely ruin them but here we are. All you have to do is yell at someone long enough and any liability will go away when proper consumer protection laws are not in place. "Yes it was technically our fault that someone tripped and got scalding hot oil on you but WHY WERE YOU THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE, HUH? Just sign this piece of paper and this will all be over." Also whenever I've dated a girl in Japan and it came out they were a "devout Christian" I've always found a way to end it soon after and I've never regretted it.

Dating a devout *anything* is a terrible idea unless you also subscribe to that particular strain of madness. Christian, Buddhist, vegan, yoga, Crossfit, anime, racial supremacy etc etc

Yeah but devout Christians in Japan are usually from South America or the Philippines and live with their parents. Even if they're impressionable and maybe open to fuckin' they still have to go home to two religious weirdos at the end of the day.

That hot pot story is likely bullshit anyway. Something like that there would be new stories and more attention. Also no ambulance? Taiwan has a pretty good medical system from my understanding. Edit: someone post the source. LimburgLimbo fucked around with this message at 16:47 on May 6, 2017 |
