It's a laser that makes enemies explode when you shoot them with it from any range after a couple of seconds, what more do you want? If that ain't your cup of tea, you can just prime enemies with it, and then kill them with another weapon and they still explode. :v:

The nerf gun only gets you into the outer office, you need the keycard for the zone-transition door.

Thanks for the tip about metal, I'm now drowning in it to the point where plastic is the limiting factor instead.

Is there any way to gets the communications unit without Repair 3? I can't see any other way to get this door open.

Nerf gun that does zero damage is shockingly useful.

Also so is leverage. Don't want the jump higher thing since I can just stack pretty much anything I want.

Has anyone figured out the safety threshold before turrets shoot you on sight yet?

I decided to take a look at the config file... what the hell is this at the bottom? Are they planning a multiplayer thing? And what's with the 'seta g_roadhouseCompleted "1"' and 'seta ui_name "Tommy"'... like they copied some of it from the original Prey.

e. Would be hilarious if this was somehow still there from my Prey 2006 install.. since they have the same name / install directory. Hm. checking the date modified thing, it's from 3-4-2017 and everything else is from 5-5-2017. I guess that's what it is. Very strange.

Now I'm wondering what happens if I try to install Prey 2006, will it just randomly overwrite stuff in the Prey 2017 directory if anything happens to be somehow the same?

e2. Anyone else see this? The Prey 2017 binaries folder path has a 'Danielle' folder.

e3. VVVV Looks like someone didn't read my edit, lol.

Did you have original Prey installed on the same machine? Might just be a legacy file the uninstaller missed.

The values sure seem like it anyway.

Also as loving amazing no bullshit it's amazing Prey 2017 is I would like to take this opportunity to remember how great original Prey was too.

When I first got access to alien mods I followed the instructions to install a basic alien mod. Immediately after I realised that I didn't have to do that and wished I hadn't been so hasty. I quite liked setting up turrets and poo poo.

I saved up my mods to get the one where you can un-mind control people. I have 3 alien mods - The mind control one and the one you have to get before it, and a kinetic blast mod that lets me do an AOE attack for 40 damage. Turrets attack me on sight now, however I am suuuuper glad that I have been hacking every one I've found until now, even though it doesn't seem to do anything. Hacking them makes them ignore you if you've got alien mods. So all my set up "safe" zones around the place that are guarded by turrets are still safe for me.

Also I very stupidly tried to set up a big turret trap with 5 turrets for... a loving technomancer. Yeah that didn't go well at all. Is there any way to make a hostile technomancer hosed turret go back to normal, or am I now stuck with a bunch of packed up damaged turrets I can't repair because if I do they go schizo on me?

Put all the hosed up turrets into a pile and toss a recycle grenade in.

Turrets are fun but woefully garbage against pretty much any non basic mimic enemy.

WARNING! INTRUDERS DETECTED

I'm a bit stuck. I'm about 3 hours in and I've thoroughly gone through Trauma Center, Staff Lounge, Hardware Lab (except for killing all those robots so the Machine Shop floor hasn't been entirely investigated yet), basically everywhere you can go in the Lobby without Leverage 3 (Human Resources), fixing the elevator (Arboretum, Life Support, GUTS, etc.) or getting any of the major wing keycards (Psychotronics, Shuttle Bay). Where do I get to an airlock so I can get to Calvino?

Is the big fuckoff round metal... thing being guarded by three robots in the Machine Shop the Hardware Lab airlock? It doesn't look like an airlock.

I wanted to resist Typhon mods, but they put you in one hell of a quandary. Like, combat stuff is whatever and while the traversal powers are tempting but there's usually an alternate route to any place you might want the reach with said power. But adding one that lets you save mind-controlled humans? How can I say no to that?

you can already save mind controlled humans by killing the mind controller. i think the psiblock grenades also stop the mind control?

You can save mind controlled humans by just shooting them with a stun gun so save your neuromod points for more useful things.

The most excellent skill yes.

Start throwing heavy things at other things or stacking giant objects to reach stuff. Or just tear doors open.

Leverage 1 is really good since you can turn any throwable into a weapon, especially explosive canisters. II and III, not so much.

How do I get through those doors that are blocked by metal bars? Like, it looks like the door itself has been hosed up and now there is just a couple of metal strips blocking the way through. I heard you could use the recycle grenades and I've tried that with zero luck. What am I missing?

Right now, throwing large objects at things is easily my most effective combat strategy. In retrospect I probably should have stopped at Leverage 2, but I'm having fun with it regardless. Everyone should probably take Leverage 1 at least just for the ability to throw explosive cylinders and have them explode on contact.

I haven't been scared yet. Maybe one jump scare when a music cue was loud. I've always considered myself a huge baby when it came to scary games, but nothing so far in Prey's made me wanna not walk forward.

I TRIED TO BAIT THE TXPOL THREAD WITH THE WORLD'S WORST POSSIBLE TAKE AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS STUPID AVATAR.
I've only played for a few hours in total, but now the game is crashing right when it starts up. It only lets a second of the bethesda video load before it throws an error. I'm (steam) streaming it to a different computer, though, which may be an issue. Ive streamed it once before using nvidia's streaming (moonlight) and it worked fine then albeit i started streaming when the game was already up. When I try it from the beginning now, it seems to load the videos fine but it still throws the error at the beginning (the error ding sounds) and when it gets to the end of the video, it just loads a black screen and nothing else. Has anyone else run into this issue?
