Not really no, but turning with the mouse was lightning quick compared to keyboard only.

Nope in fact Doom wasn't even true 3D, guns automatically tracked the height of enemies as long as you were aiming in the right direction.

Yeah, you need a mouse on ultra violence (why aren't you playing on ultra violence?) for the second half of the game. I was playing it alongside DOOM and, as absolutely amazing as DOOM is, Doom 2 is still better to this day, swear to e: In thread-related news, I started downloading Marvel Heroes last night and woke up this morning to it STILL DOWNLOADING. I even put the PS4 into rest mode. Jesus Christ, how bad is their infrastructure!?

nerdman42 posted:Gone Home seems like the thing where people either enjoy it as the story of a family and their various problems that your character apparently never knew about or they dislike it because they expected a horror game or wanted more gameplay than just walking around finding keys/opening safes. Honestly, I don't think either interpretation is wrong either. Anybody who saw this preview and thought Gone Home was going to be a ghost game is hella dumb. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Neh5WJR2IdA

Gone Home, like most walking sims, is not for everyone. The gameplay is just rummaging through a fully realized fake house which I think is really cool but if that's not something you think is cool you probably will not like it. The game defyingly has a creepy atmosphere, especially at the start, but I never got a supernatural vibe from it.

I have a theory that people who like Gone Home and people who like Yakuza both have their formative roots in Shenmue and it depended on what aspects of that game you enjoyed the most.

Seeing people try to turn walking simulator into "narrative experience" was toe curling. Like yeah, walking simulator is a really goofy way to dismiss this stuff, but c'mon.

There's plenty of solid gameplay in Gone Home, it just comes out of the player's inference from the objects they find and the order in which they find them. It's a story that can only really be told in a game format.

It's less about the exercise and more about the empty house reflecting them on the inside.

Gone Home, but on one of those mobility scooters (the fat person extra-wide kind, not the 'this is for people that actually need it' kind) and then you lose because you can't get to the attic.

I spent ten minutes failing to get the speed run 'cheevo for Gone Home then deleted the game. It was still a better experience than most of the PS+ free games have been lately.

This is the only controller for original PC DOOM. That's an Arkanoid-style spinner for turning, while the flightstick is for moving forward/backward and strafing. Since this is pre-USB, two connectors are required: one for the GAME/MIDI port for the joystick+buttons portion, and one 9-pin COM for the spinner, which is essentially treated as a single-axis mouse.

The Division is an amazing technical achievement in capturing the scale of lower Manhattan in unprecedented detail. Unfortunately it does this in service to a kind of bland open world co-op shooter instead of literally anything else.

Manhattan is extremely ugly and boring so it's a good choice for an Ubisoft open world game

If I can find something nice to say about it, it would be that, and that the movement to cover mechanic was pretty well-executed. It's a setting and mechanic with potential but literally nothing else going for it. I particularly disliked the MMO-y bullet sponge factor from the get-go.
