DC's basketball team also got blown out in their playoff game against Boston and are down 3-2 now, it was a great day for DC sports!

e: I think the Caps were already if not quite in "tear it down" territory, in "going to have to make some significant retooling changes" territory considering the cap and players up for contracts etc. This really was probably was their best chance as a franchise and for the foreseeable future...but on the other hand it doesn't always have to be the best chance, just the one you get lucky on

Yeah they still have some younger talent and contracts they don't have to worry about quite yet. Williams and Shattenkirk are both UFA. I could see Williams maybe doing another short term deal, and I'm sure Shattenkirk has probably already left the capitol district. Oshie is also UFA and the biggest question mark.

RNH had like 30-odd shots with no goals, was defensively pretty great, and had one of the better team CF+, IIRC.

He's snakebit as all hell, but he's not a problem.
