In one case, CPS let the woman literally pick a name out of the phone book when the kid was born, and in the other case, there was never any kid at all, CPS knew, and actively worked to conceal it (the father had had a vasectomy and the mother a tubal ligature). In the former case, after the courts ruled in the guy's favor, they tried to have the decision depublished so it couldn't be used as a precedent for other guys that were not the fauther in similar situations (why  ) but the court system told them to get hosed.In the latter case, the "mother" is in jail for income tax fraud relating to the nonexistent child and the guy won a seven figure settlement against the DNA testing firm that helped her out. I believe his lawsuit against another DNA testing firm is still in progress. The main thread tying these two things together is that CPS doesn't give two shits if they gently caress something up. Fortunately, they don't do so very often. I remembered these because they're two of the more unusual legal cases I've heard about. ugh its Troika has a new favorite as of 05:31 on May 11, 2017 |

Scenario: you're texting while driving and you nearly run over a cyclist. He yells at you, you flip him off, he kicks your side mirror. Do you: A) Flip him off even harder B) Call the police C) Record it all for youtube D) Chase after him and ram him so hard that he flies into a tree . . . . The driver just got handed a three year jail sentence even though she's six months pregnant, with the judge pointing out during sentencing that she obviously got pregnant on purpose to try and avoid jail but that poo poo don't fly with him.
