The engineering outpost sounds so lame I bet it's orbiting a desert planet. The science outpost is at a cool jungle planet that's so big and awesome you can play the whole game and never see all the hidden things on the planet. And it will look like Crysis everywhere, with hunting and fishing and camping. I'll kill animals and mount them on my hut wall before I lift off to the science outpost to check in on the science things I will find, like science.

What keeps striking me throughout this thread is just how barren and dull Chris' vision is (and it's his vision we can be 100% sure, otherwise it wouldn't get approved by him) and how limited the man's imagination has to be. There is zero, zip, zilch that tells me that this is SC. It's baby's dirty storage room 101 from any first time level designer. And I know it's dumb to criticize a single screen dump, but it paints a pattern. A grey, generic pattern.

The Titanic posted:The big flame out implosion of the company didn't happen. We're looking more or less at a slow burn out that could drag on for years. Spinning it out would also by a way of breaking it to the really dumb Citizens gently that they got scammed, it's less risky than the unpredictability of reality suddenly appearing to those idiots. But it depends how much money is left, they could delay the end for years by drastically cutting staff and closing a couple of the studios that don't do anything .. . . any of them really. That would mean CIG not being really dumb with money though, so unlikely, let's see if they make it till Gamescom, then let's see if they make it to Citizen Con.

i like how people have some kind of expectation that theres going to be some new and unbelievable exploration opportunities in the game, as if it isn't supposed to be specifically programmed in by some overworked map designer thats just going to staple together a bunch of rock terrain type 1,2, or 3 with different skins and palettes

trucutru posted:Goons would just do an hourly rental and then slam the ship into the closest Javelin available. This assumes crashing spaceships has any impact. #1 LTI will never, ever be in the game. LTI is used to sell spaceship pictures to spergs. The notion of CIG ever having the talent to code anything more complex than a spawn timer means you haven't been following the project. #2 I'd expect the rental ship to clip right through the Javelin with zero damage. And also expect the rental ship to explode the second one of its landing gear touches a landing pad.
