Maybe you don't care because you're in a position of privilege but I have a lot of friends and families who would have had their livelihoods absolutely completely hosed if TPP had gone through so it's a very big deal for me and if before the election someone had given me that but with the catch of "big tax cuts for the rich" I would have taken it in a heartbeat.

Look at this hysterical appeal to emotion bullshit you're employing to try and sidestep the fact that Trump has been in office for months now and literally nothing has changed for you while rich people are about to get the biggest tax cuts since Reagan. Since before Reagan.

But yeah he promised you free trade deals would end so it's okay.

The choice in the election was between Hillary and Trump and Hillary would have been way more destructive just by signing that piece of poo poo into law. Again, you probably are too insulated from the actual effects of what it would have done to working people to realize how big of a deal it was. I'll take the compromises we get with Trump any day.

Instead of investing in infrastructure and education, two things that have both been proven to be massive boons to the economy and general welfare, he's pushed for a ban on refugees, tax cuts for the rich, and made a laughingstock of the office.

But yeah he got rid of TPP so it's all good.

Yeah "nothing changing" is what I got by voting Trump and "my friends and families lives being destroyed" is what I would have gotten with Hillary so I'm still pretty pleased with how it turned out.

The choice is done with! The point is now that the executive in office is accountable to the people and he is failing in his task so why are you still now on his jock?

As if Hillary is somehow going to spook up from the corner and be the president instead if you admit Trump is loving up and reneging on all his promises one by one?

Your arguments don't even make sense. I'm not mad at you for voting for Trump 6 months ago, I'm mad because 6 months later he hasn't done as he said and you don't even care because apparently you just want your team to win.

That makes no loving sense lol.

I mean if you voted for him surely you care that he is reneging on every single promise one by one? No? Doesn't matter?

Doesn't matter that he promised to drain the swamp and get monied interests out of Washington while slamming HRC for her ties to Goldman and then making Goldman's #2 the goddamn Treasury Secretary?

Hillary is gone. What, in 4 years when still nothing good has happened for you and me are you going to shrug and say "well but Hillary."

Friend if your version of "okay" is "coast like this for another 4 years or so" then that's potentially grim and catastrophic for the working man. Things are already borderline untenable which is why the Dems got shellacked in the first place while mumbling about how the economy is doing so good.

Hillary is gone. What, in 4 years when still nothing good has happened for you and me are you going to shrug and say "well but Hillary."
The "mood of the nation," in 1972, was so overwhelmingly vengeful, greedy, bigoted and blindly reactionary that no presidential candidate who even faintly reminded "typical voters" of the fear & anxiety they'd felt during the constant "social upheavals" of the Sixties had any chance at all of beating Nixon last year – not even Ted Kennedy – because the "pendulum effect" that began with Nixon's slim victory in '68 was totally irreversible by 1972. After a decade of left-bent chaos, the Silent Majority was so deep in a behavorial sink that their only feeling for politics was a powerful sense of revulsion. All they wanted in the White House was a man who would leave them alone and do anything necessary to bring calmness back into their lives – even if it meant turning the whole state of Nevada into a concentration camp for hippies, niggers, dope fiends, do-gooders, and anyone else who might threaten the status quo. The Pendulum Theory is very voguish these days, especially among Washington columnists and in the more prestigious academic circles, where the conversion-rate has been running at almost epidemic proportions since the night of November 7th. Until then, it had not been considered entirely fashionable to go around calling ex-Attorney General John Mitchell a "prophet" because of his smiling prediction, in the summer of 1970, that "This country is going so far to the right that you won't recognize it."

This is the nut of the Pendulum Theory. It is also a recurring theme in McGovern's personal analysis of why the voters rejected him so massively last November. The loss itself didn't really surprise him. Not even the Eagleton debacle, he insisted, could explain away the fact that the American people had come within an eyelash of administering the worst defeat in the history of presidential politics to a gentle, soft-spoken and essentially conservative Methodist minister's son from the plains of South Dakota.

What I don't get is the double standard, frankly. The GOP is openly selling access to politicians (and only a few grand a pop!) and if the Dems did that you people would be in an apoplectic rage (and rightfully imo).

But what, your team is doing it so it's all good?

quote:

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) and the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) are advertising to donors that they will get invitations to events with congressional staff such as chiefs of staff, leadership staffers and committee staffers.

You don't have to believe 'fake news' either, go to the NRSC's website it's right on there. They don't even give a poo poo.
