Have Feige and crew whiffed on any of their casting? Even the people they've replaced have more been for behind the scenes poo poo than on camera performance

Terrance Howard's cry babying is he only thing I can think of. Ed Norton hosed himself out of the MCU. Nobody seems to like Natalie Portman's Jane Foster either.

I mean...lotsa people don't like Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. Or so I hear. And I'll go ahead and drudge up every single last grievance I have with Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One if I have to. howe_sam posted:Pre-super serum Steve Rogers leaping on the dummy grenade is maybe my favorite character moment of his. The climax of Civil War, starting from them meeting Zemo in the bunker, would be another top moment for me. The entire highway sequence -> Bucky and Steve fight in Winter Soldier. I'm inordinately fond of the whole Sokovia rescue game sequence in Age of Ultron. The moment where Fury shows up with the Helicarriers legit gets me in the groinals. Danceoff -> everyone holding the Infinity Stone in GOTG just goshdarn works so well as the capoff to that movie, in defiance of all sense and rationale.

Terence Howard wasn't able to return because he kept insisting that his appearance in Iron Man 1 counted as 2 movies and he needed a raise.

While he might have been wrong about Iron Man 1 being two movies, he was an early Marvel Cinematic Universe actor, so he was probably right about deserving a raise.

Yeah he actually did want a raise. Him being literally batshit loving crazy and thinking he knows the secrets of the universe revealed by his plastic sculptures and that 1x1=1 is a conspiracy probably didn't factor in.

These are good too, but I also love the "They're basically gods" and he follows up with "There's only one God, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't look like that". And of course the pre-serum stuff in The First Avenger. It's the little scenes and light character flair where he totally sells his WWII boyscout thing in his signature charming way. Also I think Quill's little speech at the end of GotG2 might be my new favorite scene, it really stuck with me.

My favourite moments in the MCU all kinda revolve around Cap as well (bar one or two) so echoing the praise for Evans because he really has the hardest job of the main cast. Everyone else has more inherently colourful characters to play as actors. Stark has the reformed playboy stuff, Loki is the wounded villain, Thor has the fish out of water in a more obvious way, Banner has the inner darkness as does Widow. Evans just has to be the guy who makes the right choice even when it's hard, yet still come off as down to earth and human. I love the "I don't wanna kill anyone... I just don't like bullies" I love the "This isn't freedom, this is fear" I love the elevator fight in Winter Soldier. I love basically every scene Evans has with Johannson. I love "Captain's orders..." I love the hammer moving ever so slightly when he tries to lift it in Avengers 2. I ADORE the scene from Civil War where he tries to console Bucky by saying he wasn't in control when he did stuff for Hydra and Bucky just sadly goes "I still did it..." I also really like We Are Groot from Guardians 1 and "He may be yer father, but he ain't yer daddy!" from Guardians 2 I like every time Kat Dennings mispronounces Mjolnir in the Thor films. And I actually really like most of Renner's stuff from Avengers 2 and Civil War. They clicked with the idea of Clint as the average dude who's in over his head and talks poo poo because if he didn't he'd collapse into a foetal position.

It was going to be a certain amount for the first one, a certain amount for the second one, a certain amount for the third. They came to me with the second and said, ‘Look, we will pay you one-eighth of what we contractually had for you, because we think the second one will be successful with or without you.’ And I called my friend – that I helped get the first job – and he didn’t call me back for three months.” So no, not quite.

I really like the scene in Age of Ultron were Ultron is laying in the wrecked Streetcar and Wanda comes in and he says "Wanda, if you stay here, you'll die". In his crazy genocidal mind, he has this weird affection for her. Then she gets all crazy and tears our his heart, which would be something she'd do. In Winter Soldier, when they have Sitwell on the roof and he's all "You won't push me off, you're Captain America!" and Cap is all "Well yea, but she will" and Sitwell realizes that yea, he's hosed because the Black Widow will do basically anything that is needed to be done. Then after she pushes Sitwell off the roof she just so casually asks if Steve would be interested in going out with a girl with a lip ring and he's all "Naw, that's too nutty".

The best one of these, which James Spader knocks out of the park throughout that film and deserved a far better script to support him, is when he responds to Wanda and Pietro with, "I used to wonder why only you two survived Strucker's experiments... now I don't."

The Russos and their writers are loving geniuses because they clearly saw something in Evans' and Johannson's chemistry and those two just kill it as these two platonic buds who are so similar yet so different and just have a blast with each other. I actually really like Tasha's bit in Civil War where she turns on Panther to help Steve get away because it feels very true to that relationship. More than the Banner romance, I believe that Steve is her bestie.

I have a soft spot for the "I'm always angry" scene in the first Avengers. I love that insight into Banner's struggle and then his destruction of the space worm with a single punch is just... wonderful.

I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I find Ruffalo's Banner to be incredibly boring. Say what you will about the Norton movie, but at least he was interesting. Ruffalo is "Aw, shucks" in wallpaper form. Add me to the Evans fan list, but I also really like Sebastian Stan as Bucky/Winter Soldier. It's not a character I ever really warmed to in the comics, but I'd be okay with him taking up the shield when Evans wants out. Anthony Mackie too, though I think he was better in Winter Soldier than Civil War.

I was iffy on Stan to start with, but Civil War had me turn the corner on him. Pretty much everything after he recovers from Zemo triggering him is great.

Stan is great but special kudos to whoever did the character design for the Winter Soldier in 2005 because Stan looks badass 10 years later in basically a one-to-one screen version of the look. I just watched the bridge/knife fight scene again and Stan does such a great job of swaggering menace where you instantly buy that this guys is extremely dangerous. E: In CW, when Bucky is choking out Natasha in the UN building, she says "at least recognize me". Was she referring to from Winter Soldier or was that a hint they worked together during her red ledger days? zoux fucked around with this message at 03:28 on May 13, 2017 |

If I can still get in a mention for "comic book movie that you liked but everyone else hated", I have to throw G.I. Joe: Retaliation into the ring. The main story was something that could have easily been a comic plotline, while the ninja subplot was torn directly from Larry Hama's storylines. On top of that, you've got the motherfuckin' Rock as your star power, with a sweet bromance in Channing Tatum. Then there's Jonathan Pryce chewing scenery with wild abandon, plus supporting characters Ray "Punisher/Titus Pullo" Stevenson, Elodie "Elektra" Yung, Ray "we know better than to let him talk" Park, and Bruce goddamned Willis. Oh, and RZA plays a blind ninja master.

So here is a question I thought was interesting. Me and some friends were talking about a non existent campy Batman movie and we all agreed Adam DeVine should be campy Robin, but we couldn't decide on Batman. Who do you guys think it should be? The general consensus was Chris Pratt but he's obviously already doing Marvel movies.
