The first MLB team in the Lone Star State, the Houston Astros (née Colt .45s) have plenty of history. We invented the domed stadium and AstroTurf. Yet one thing remains desired: a World Series ring. It looked possible in 2005, but it was not meant to be. Enter Jeff Luhnow. Having worked previously for our nemesis, the St. Louis Cardinals, Luhnow had the boldest idea in baseball history: tank SO loving HARD you get all the talent before everyone else (let's not talk about the 2013 draft). All fans had to do was #TrustTheProcess and wait for the tide to turn. The tide has turned. Off to their best 16-game start in franchise history, the Astros are primed to be the team to beat in the AL West, if not the entire American League. This, despite the fact the AL is terrible, and the NL is much better and is where the Astros should be playing. If you want to join the Astros Bandwagon, now's the time! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvSXJ4_g228

I just want a Texas team to win the World Series. I don't give a poo poo who does it. Just cure me of my sadness, someone.

I'd be cool with the Astros winning a World Series game at this point 2005 hurt a lot

I remember seeing the 2005 Astros in person...at a Texans game. The 2-14 2005 Texans. They won that game, though!

Imagine being Brandon Backe, an outfielder converted to pitcher, hopelessly mediocre but extremely passionate about winning, playing for your hometown team, pitching the game of your life in game 4 of the World Series with 7IP 0R 5H 0BB 7K and getting zero run support and watching your team lose 1-0 because of your formerly untouchable closer Brad Lidge

I knew Marisnick was off to a hot start but I didn't realize he was slashing .308/.471/.538 He's gotten off to a monster start before though and managed to end the season hovering around the Mendoza line so I'm not going to get too excited

I can't really bandwagon, but just know if the Astros can make up for 2005 it has a very real chance of bringing a tear to my eye.

At least 2005 gave us the 18 inning game that Brad Ausmus, of all the people in the entire baseball-playing world, tied with a HR in the 9th But that world series hurt a ton, yeah

2005 was still awesome because the last game in Busch Stadium 2 featured Roy Oswalt dominating the Cards and the Astros celebrating an NL Pennant win. Too bad we had to sacrifice Brad Lidge for that moment.

I'd have to think those things are going to be collectors editions if it actually happens. I have no idea where to buy 3 year old magazines though.
