telling a single continuous story across a million games that all try to be big-budget mega jrpgs without any thought for development time, pacing or budget is dumb trails games being cut up into arcs is a really big strength because even with 42069 games left you'll still get lots of satisfying resolutions to individual story arcs

Fun fact about Xenosaga: Only Xenosaga 2 ever made it to PAL regions, but to make up for the fact that it's the second game in a franchise that kinda expects you to know poo poo they bundled it together with a disc that's just a video of all the Xenosaga 1 cutscenes.

I did and I remember it being a disjointed mess that makes precious little sense, as you would expect from a cutscene collection of a game where at least half the plot is explained in normal text boxes.

Quest For Glory II posted:are there good anime adaptions of video games. i havent bothered with the persona ones cause like i already played the games so idgaf tales of zestiria the x is sort of janky but ultimately tells an actual story with a decent ending, which is more than the game it's based on does ys 2 and dragon slayer both have fun, dumb, actiony ova adaptations that are pretty well animated and super short, which kind of saves dragon slayer's cause being two-episodes long at least means it's always throwing more crazy poo poo at you to make up for not really keeping its own characters straight the darkstalkers ova gets a bit too talky in episode 3 but it has a really fun dub and is generally well-animated so it's more fun than the cartoon
