Yeah, obviously they're not going to rework anything major at this point, but seems like they could work in some more chances from the "home plate" area. Not like they don't have forwards with decent shots too.

So today it begins. I'll be honest, I dislike the Sens but even trying to be an unbiased observer I just cannot understand how that roster has made it to the conference finals.
I can take solace in the fact that Erik Karlsson is amazing but at the same time this will vindicate everything that fuckhead Melnyk has been preaching for years so I can't imagine there will be appreciable awards for them punching above their weight here. (Unless they somehow win the cup, then I suppose that would be worth the new era of Melnyk's penny pinching)

Off Corey Perry's head as he took out his own goaltender. I don't know if anything will be able to top that for the rest of the series

I have a strong feeling, based on last nights game, that the Preds/Ducks series is going to mirror the Preds/Blues one. Preds win in 6 games while continuing to be undefeated at home. Ducks will take games 2 & 5. I'm not gonna toxx this one.

When the playoff system is set up to base everything on divisions, and one division in a conference is far superior to the other, and generally SOMEONE from that weak division makes the conference finals, rosters like Ottawa's can get their way to the conference finals.

In the last two years, seven of eight Atlantic Division teams have made the playoffs, no team made it in both years. Those teams went 2-5 in the first round, with the only two wins coming from playing other Atlantic teams. Both of those teams made the conference final, as the #2 Atlantic team beating the #4 Metro team in the second round.

Ottawa made it through by winning two games at home, not collapsing after losing two in New York, coming back and winning in overtime, and holding off a rally. That's all it takes.

Or it'll resemble the Oilers/Ducks one where the road team wins the first 4 games and then the ducks steal the series with their dirty poo poo and all the preds defensemen get injured in 1 game.

The world would be a better place if the ducks were forced to play against predator drones instead of the hockey team.

This playoff system is whack. Ottawa shouldn't even be in the playoffs, much less in a position where they need 3 to win on Pittsburgh. lovely bracket, lovely league and how dare Ottawa win a game in the ECF where they don't even belong. They'd get swept by the Leafs if they were playing them right now!!1

The funny thing is Pittsburgh shouldn't be here either given the way they've played all playoffs.

I think everyone is conflating boring with bad. I really don't want the Sens to find anymore success, selfishly because I am a Pens fan but also as a fan of hockey. This is a copycat league and the more teams we have copying the 1-3-1 the objectively worse the on ice product will be. I understand the "whatever means necessary" approach a fan of a team has but if a style of play can make an Eastern Conference Final game have little to no excitement for a person with a vested interest, imagine how checked out a casual fan is going to be.

This game could be an outlier too, a few pucks go into nets instead of off the bar then maybe it opens up a little.
