In hindsight I should've expected something like this after they murdered Sleeping Dogs and United Front Games. Pouring one out for Hitman and hoping they're going to implement a proper offline mode. Edit: https://twitter.com/britishgaming/status/862683669345038338

They killed UFG, but the IP itself is still kinda alive, since there's a movie in the works?

That game had so many great touches. Little stuff like how you didn't actually lose accuracy on your pistol by hammering the button as hard as you could like a proper hong kong action hero really sold it. Appropriate that I learn of UFG's death here, in the assassin thread.

They put Deus Ex on hiatus too. Square are basically slowly killing their western franchises at this point.

Could be that squeenix overpayed for it, spent too much on pr, or any number of things. All the notice indicates is that net total it lost them a lot of money.

Well Square-Enix thought Hitman 2016 was a bust but are making a sequel to the universally panned and disliked Thi4f, please look forward to it.

I don't think I've heard anything about a possible Thief sequel being in development. Or it has slipped me by at some point.

there was a giantbomb-affiliated podcast that claimed that IOI would keep the license, but it's pretty much hearsay at the moment.

That's the best case scenario, along with someone investing into IO so that they can finish season 2. Needless to say, I hope it's actually true.

To be fair though. Andromeda wasn't entirely their fault and a good portion of the blame can be placed squarely on the developers for that mess. Although I'm really hoping that if EA does take this game over that they don't do what they did with Dead Space.
