Yeah there's some evidence that people who were obese as kids or teens will need to be on a (sometimes severely) calorie-restricted diet for the rest of their lives if they want to lose weight and keep it off. It's not the extreme diet itself that does it, it's just that adipocytes much more readily divide before you reach adulthood for some reason, so if you were a fat kid you'll have a greater number of fat cells in your body compared to people who grew up at a normal weight. This has all sorts of implications with the leptin/ghrelin signaling system, insulin resistance and how eager your body is to store calories as fat, so it really sucks when you grew up fat and try to lose weight as an adult.

My current goal is to get down from 215 of goonflab to 200, then simply maintain that but change it into muscle. I lost a bunch of weight in college but it's slowly crept back, in large part because I was overly concerned with numbers on a scale IMHO.

Most are at about 1000 Calorie/day diets just to maintain their weight. Counterpoint Look, I've been on this ride since 2012, still haven't hit maintenance. I've lost more than 100 lbs in 7 months in one stretch, and gained close to 50 back in another (I'm a stress eater and my son had a life threatening heart condition). People find what is successful, and they keep doing that same thing over and over again. After about a month of an activity, your body figures it out, so running the same three miles in the same direction on the same days at the same speed will produce a diminishing return to your fitness. You gotta mix it up, change things up, set more challenging goals and set long term ones that you may fail at (like running a marathon on completely arthritic knees, coming this fall). I vary my diet, my calorie counts, my exercise routine in a 4-6 week schedule. My training runs still happen too, but there's speed work , intervals, etc to help with that. Tabata helps with plateaus too. It can be done. It isn't easy.

I think a lot of people spend way too much time thinking about and researching which diets are the best and what exercise routine is optimal to the point that they never actually do it. I think it is far more effective to just do it yourself. A lot of healthy eating is pretty obvious, you don't necessarily need a meal-by-meal plan, and weight loss exercise is pretty simple and it doesn't really matter (to some extent) what you do as long as you do it and don't give up when you don't lose 50 pounds in the first month. Pre-defined diets and plans work for some people but in my experience it's more likely to stick if you figure out the lifestyle changes you need to make on your own than just trying to follow what a book says.

sorry I've been slacking thread, here is a Very Long Feshquote:HELLO I'm glad to hear you're turning poo poo around and I hope you continue to devote yourself to actually experiencing life. It's really easy for people to just fall into routines and let a shitload of time just kind of blow past you, and it happens more often than you'd think. As for your romance adventures: I'm pretty sure your dick didn't betray you and isn't broken etc etc, you just moved really fast into physical intimacy. I can understand being impatient after making it to 30 without any, but there's a reason most people ease into that stuff when they're teens. You were anxious. Anxiety is a boner-killer. That voice in your head was a self-fulfilling prophecy. Basically just try and take it slow from here on out, R E L A X, make sure you are completely comfortable every step of the way, focus on your breathing, and oh yeah, maybe get therapy. Anyway here's a shorter fesh quote:So, dual question and confession borne out of pure curiosity; I'm a 29 year old female, lesbian, and often wonder if I'm the only girl who gets off watching camgirls, because all the confessions I see are men talking about them. I'm not a lesbian and don't watch camgirls, but I imagine this is one of those things where the appeal for most people comes from some kind of sexual-politics thing that most lesbians aren't as subject to. That's mostly a guess, though -- you do you of course

When I started looking into it a lot of articles hide the risk of kidney failure or that it was one of those fast trend diets where you lose a lot of weight in a short time. For those that don't know the goal of that diet is to eliminate carbs so your body uses fat as your primary energy source, which is debatable whether this is healthy or true. Also stuff like managing epilepsy, diabetes, acne, floppy penis, etc. https://authoritynutrition.com/ketogenic-diet-101/
