Worst case scenario, and no one has any explosives at all: Have two or three people get his attention, then have someone sneak up and shoot the phalanx dudes in the back of the head. Ideally they'd have suppressors and crits to not draw aggro and to terminate the phalanx dudes quickly. Or surround him and trade aggro back and forth. Or have one person bring the free frag grenades, ideally the guy who you realize almost always has all of their throwables at the end of a heist. None of -that- is necessary, either, if one person has: - An HE shotgun - An explosive bow/crossbow - A GL40, Piglet, China Puff, Arbiter, RPG-7, Commando RL, or a Little Friend Also, sniper rifles no longer have damage loss when penetrating shields or thin walls, so those could probably work although I don't know how many headshots it would take per phalanx dude. Depends on the rifle/difficulty. (I am biased to like Captain Winters because I have a mod that randomizes his entrance noise, sorry)

Death Vox: Stealing Xmas: 1. All different merchandise items must be grabbed. There are two of each item, as follows. For any task involving an inventory search, a powerbox linked to the search will also spawn just outside the store. Toy: Tin Boy first requires searching all presents in the toy store, which will let you find one tin boy. At this point you find out the last one was sold and have to search the mall for it. Far more presents and shopping bags will spawn. Shoes: Shoe store inventory will first require opening the back room (skipped if already opened), then searching the database, then opening the crates. Opening the crates requires a crowbar. The crowbar spawns somewhere on the roof or one of the utility hallways. It can be picked up early. Other crates spawn in the utility areas of the mall, one of which has the other pair of shoes. Wine: First bottle of wine is in the store as usual. The second bottle requires an inventory search. Completing the search reveals...that Vlad's brother-in-law hid the bottle in the store, then immediately purchased it. An interrogation task occurs with Santa, which ends with a wandering escort to where the bottle is. Santa will not be stopped by police, and if he falls, will eventually get up on his own. Necklace: Necklace spawns as usual in display, second will spawn in a safe behind a drillable shutter at the desk. Both can be gained concurrently. VR Headset: First spawns in safe behind shutter as usual. Second headset requires another hack to figure out where it went. Completing hack reveals it was "used in a display". This makes it possible to open the presents next to Santa, one of which contains the headset. 2. Flare task. Overwatch and increased sniper spawn loop occurs on roof as task begins. Interacting with the C4 bag cues Winters to spawn. All struts of the skylight (12 in all, iirc) must be planted. 4 Cloakers spawn after the fourth C4 is set, 2 from the stairways and 2 from normal spawnpoints on the roof. 3. You need to defend Bile on the roof. Just kidding! The hook task proceeds as normal. 4. The lift. Here's the nasty part. The extra weight is throwing things off-Bile needs everyone to stay in the circle as he gets ready to lift the tree. This is effectively a mini-version of the safe situation from Lab Rats and Santa's Workshop. I'm thinking 2 minutes. If a player leaves the platform, timer reset. Extra enemies: As the first assault begins, snipers will spawn on the roof (not overlooking it, on the roof itself) and head to positions at the skylights. These snipers stop spawning when the flare task begins. Cloaker vents in back rooms of stores. and in stairways to roof. Cloakers are Xmas cloakers. A black dozer will spawn in one of the back rooms, using the spinning chair gag from Hox Break day 2. Extra loot: all safes spawn, all contain cash. More bags of jewelry spawn in the jewelry store. An additional ~20 presents spawn all over the mall, containing toys, one ammo bag, several sets of loose cash/jewelry...and one Almir's Toast. Achievements: Arbor Day: Complete the heist on Death Vox. On the Nice List: Be nice to Santa- as much as possible (don't hit or shout at Santa at all during the wine bottle task). Like a Flying Duck: Complete the heist on Death Vox after making Bile try to lift the tree for a full minute...12 times. Discendo Vox fucked around with this message at 02:35 on May 14, 2017 |

If everyone equips the free frag grenades, 12 is more than enough to destroy him, or at least eliminate enough of the phalanx that you can headshot his men. Or you could combine the grenades with the Platypus sniper rifle, which also doesn't require DLC. If anyone has BBQ pack then it's even easier. Don't even need the piglet - 3 molotovs do more than enough to weaken the phalanx. Or bring the flamethrower - a weapon that has plenty of utility on standard enemies and other special units - and burn him. Also with almost all the DLC at less than a dollar a pop now, reiterating that there really is no better time to snap it all up.

Greetings from the CharOps salt mines. I've heard people say FIRE might be amazing with anarchist on more than one occasion, and I finally got around to tweaking for it. Anarchist with DB crits forms an interesting, and simultaneously underwhelming, interaction. To summarize the issue, I'd say it gives you the most help when you need it the least. One major note, as usual with DB, you can't get headshots. As far as I'm aware, procing a crit doesn't count either(and I had bullseye anyway just in case). Anarchist builds usually heavily depend on it, and it really is just that good by comparison. The constant steady regen of fire ticks on everything is great... against nonspecials. Things you probably didn't need the extra defense against. Further, the AI has a tendency to 'keyhole' players, blasting them the instant they get even the smallest clear shot. Using DB to regenerate involves a start up time, and you're not going to get everything controlled instantly. The most common failing I saw in a run of 10-10 DW was peeking out to a hail of bullets. Half the crowd is controlled, but half my armor is also gone from the initial trade. The weakness of less ON DEMAND armor rears it's ugly head. The real weakness comes from specials. Cloakers can still (barely) operate on fire. Shields and medics and dozers absolutely do not care. Kind of an issue when their incoming fire taxes your more passive armor regeneration. Dozers on DW especially will just annihilate your armor. Without headshots to get a quick boost, and a much slower burning dozer, you're next to useless for dancing with them. Medics also tend to keep one guy alive for prolonged periods till the medic slowly burns to death. Unless a team mate has the presence of mind to hunt medics on your behalf, that is. Since you're going to be double teamed by specials and normals, the initial hail of fire will reduce your armor enough for specials to take better advantage of their stun immunity. You're better off just using normal ammunition, really. What makes DB so strong on dodge builds is apparently it's ability to (usually) negate an initial hail of fire. Then things are under control, the fire reducing the risk of unlucky rolls from further attacks. I'll try GRINDER FIRE next, as that's another popular theory amongst players. With the lessons learned, here, I'll go for an LBV grinder in hopes to negate the effect of the initial trade. Fuuka Ayase fucked around with this message at 19:28 on May 14, 2017 |

I had some success with jack of all trades to carry 3 doc bags and 2 ammo bags, maxed jokers, and then flamethrowers or DB shotguns and grenade launcher to stun or blow up enemies. Inspire, swan song and rogue without sneaky bastard. Just survive and do objectives. 3. Join other sprees where the host is using a potato so fewer enemies to deal with.

Past a certain level, that's not really going to be possible. Crime Spree as far as the 200s is doable with armor builds. When you start going past 250 (where the achievements stop) is when it stops being at all reasonable; it's just a continuous stacking of "more HP and more damage!" multipliers.

Hopefully part of the additional crime spree changes is sliding more mutators in there so enemy stats don't escalate nearly as quick so you don't need to just do Clubhouse a ton to hit 250.

You don't even need to be doing that to begin with. I don't know how y'all are getting the idea Crime Spree is hard to begin with; the base difficulty is Overkill and the HP only starts scaling towards One Down numbers when you hit around 200. And even then the headshot multiplier is still 7.5 so if you can click cops at all things are dying fast; the only real threats are snipers and floods of medics and bulldozers.

I find the .308 contractor positively adequate. What really sinks sniper rifles is the pickup, reload speed, and refire speed. The .308 solves the latter two problems largely, but not the first. Also removing the scope from the grom doesn't increase conceal? Come the hell on!
|
# ? May 16, 2017 08:06 |

Sniper rifles have historically had bad pickup as one of their downsides. The Contractor and other snipers of its damage class had their pickup buffed back in December. So they have better pickup than the M308. But not better than an AK or CAR4 DMR, but that's because of an oversight. Pickup is basically a massive quagmire at the moment because of Jules.

Hopefully we'll see more modifiers in Crime Spree beyond greater enemy health and damage, but none that de-buff the player, please. Difficulty rebalance away from bullet sponge enemies is a good idea but I'm not sure they won't gently caress it up. HRT being removed was good riddance. They can come back if they no longer shoot loving nukes from their MP5s.
