His writing style has always come off as slightly abrasive and he's made fun of basically every team at some point too, and your average internet commenter has extremely thin skin.

Their complaint is how the national media has only paid attention to them this series, but then their entire argument ignores the 82 games they played in the regular season. Even for the playoffs its more that theyve been involved in a lot of close games, which was true of a lot of boring unwatchable teams past and present. 2003 Minnesota played a lot of tight games and had 2 really compelling series and that was the worst hockey youll ever see in your life. Big difference in having nice finishes and being generally fun to watch.

And while I think that their roster is a big part of that I'd say they were pretty fun to watch under MacLean and Cameron.

Its kind of stupid seeing internet Senators fans try to convince people they're an entertaining team as if judging entertainment value is a measured and rational decision rather than a gut reaction to the thing you watch in the moment. No living breathing human being is going to go "wow, watching the penguins butt their heads into a 1-3-1 or 1-4 neutral zone trap for an hour is actually an extremely fun and interesting use of my time now that you've told me the senators might win if they do that and linked me highlights of that game where pageau scored four goals"

The Sens do, in fact, play some boring-rear end hockey especially when they're winning. They make it work for the most part, and good on them, but it doesn't make the games any more fun to watch.

I typically root for the underdog in sports, but watching that awful 1-3-1 block the Pens in a game with a 1-0 final score was absolutely dreadful. I have no interest in seeing that in the Finals.

3 3v3 games at once in a football stadium. It's still two teams though, making it a "best of three" format.

Hey, getting to pay 30 bucks to park to see a racist named team lose 15 miles outside of the city that makes up half their name is worth it, I guess. Those games I got to go to at RFK were amazing though, getting to feel the stands shake like they are falling apart is all apart of the experience.

Mostly though my point is that even Sens fans knew the team was playing loving boring garbage hockey. I'm still gonna cheer for them obviously, and I can appreciate a well coached team and a well executed system, but it is what it is.
