Seen them twice live because they're the favorite band of, of all people, my mom. They put on pretty good shows.

I went to see Steely Dan with my parents one summer, and my mom's all-time favorite is Elton John. I can't imagine my parents being cool enough to like shoegaze, though they probably would like that better than dealing with my older brothers' Dead Kennedys, Black Flag and Suicidal Tendencies. My mom still gets riled up talking about I Saw Your Mommy (and your Mommy's dead)

Meanwhile, my parents had Dead Kennedys and Black Flag vinyls, so maybe that says more about how young I am than anything.

That's really cool. I'm the next-to-youngest of 6, so my parents were over 40 when I was born, and there's 14 years difference between me and my oldest brother. I might have a nephew as old as you lol

The star wars prequels

I picked up both trilogies on BluRay this past weekend and watched the prequels over the course of a few days. Ep. 1 is, if nothing else, an entertaining movie. Anakin isn't too emo in Ep 2, which probably comes in as the strongest film of the prequesl. Ep 3 goes from highs and lows, in terms of quality. Emo Anakin is loving terrible and the scenes that lead to his turn to the dark side are so ham-fisted and awkward However, the action sequences in the film are some of the best in the prequels.
