well, good deal in the sense that it's still not something i want to spend $150 on

yeah it's definitely a bit over what i like to spend on stupid gimmicks, but at least it's not one thousand five hundred earth dollars like the original https://www.artlebedev.com/optimus/popularis/ again, diy'ing macros is the obvious budget choice, but since i use a lot of stuff that's 3-4 layers deep in menus via shortcuts in office & adobe i'm considering it. it also has the added bonus of being prettier than a bunch of paper labels on a xkey, and obviously it's dynamic. could make sense as a fancy pants travel numpad too.

do the keys actually press? its hard to tell from the way the guy in the gif is slapping at them. if they have a good click to em it might be nice, but if it's just capacitive or something it wouldnt do much for me

i skimmed a youtube review and they press down but you couldnt hear them click on the guys mic. sort of makes sense since they're targeting the streamer market although those guys havent all figured out hearing your keyboard is a bad thing

ok so probably a leaf spring i wouldn't get a keyboard made out of just those keys, but it's nice to see tactility even if it's super shallow

Fayez Butts posted:what do you guys loving expect there was a drat screen in every key i legit don't have a problem with the cost, not that i spend that kind of money on a keyboard. what i find funny is that they probably opted for a my switch because it's thinner and cheaper, but since it shares the same cross shaped mounting point for keys, mostly, you could probably swap out the switches for something else. i still think it's a pretty rad design, and i'd have to consider it if i ever saw a used one for cheap(ish) https://imgur.com/a/8ccgH https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7b9glYuAXw

hifi posted:not sure how you can emulate topre switches with cheap chinese plastic and regular rear end leaf springs the designer admits this, but regardless it sounds appealing. i love my cherry mx clears for the nice bottom-out cushion, but i wish the actuation was a bit smoother & lighter. i'd want to get a legit topre one day, but they're all either obscenely expensive or have triplehaata posted:My goal when designing the Halo switch was to "make it feel more like Topre". I use Topre all the time. And really, it's impossible to make it feel exactly like Topre without being Topre (see Royal Kludge).
