I don't know what's about NRS and zonning characters. I remeber Kung Jin in MKX being a pain to fight against for quite some time too. Deadshot is too opressive, it requires a degree of patience and restrain people usually find unfun...even Captain cold has some bullshit keep away game with the cold gun + MB ice wall.

I mean, there are good examples of zoners in the game too. Dr. Fate's projectiles will sail over your head once you hit midscreen, firestorm's low shot only hits one of 3 points on the ground, Green Arrow has to reload his actual damaging arrows, etc. Deadshot is just in a weird spot where the holes in his shooting probably aren't big enough and he has a stupidly strong up-close knockback game.

Deadshot just recovers way too quickly. IIRC in Inj1 you could dash between Deathstroke's shots, making him a lot less cancerous (and he was still nerfed). Against Deadshot you just have to block and move forward an inch at a time, which sucks. And he can immediately put you at fullscreen again with MB shotgun.

Edit: Again, I remind the thread that Deathstroke won an actual big tournament early in IJ1's life by a Deathstroke gun spamming guy. With the entire leadup being the thread "pros" constantly telling everyone they were big babies for not being able to effortlessly own Deathstrokes. Also, that's not the way the netcode works in this game at all, your connection is either laggy or it isn't, latency really doesn't affect your ability to get in. The only thing he has no recovery on is the straight wrist shot. You need to actually make reads to get in on him. It takes practice, you can't just mindlessly go forward and it's not something people can easily learn in less than a week of playing a brand new game. MB Rifle also doesn't put you full screen, and you get a free dash after you block it. In the top 8 of that tournament there's only 1 Deadshot and it's in loser's bracket.

It's fun and easy to make fun of people whining about Spam but there's a nugget of truth in peoples complaints specifically with NRS games. It's not fun or interesting to get around zoning in the game at all. Fireball wars aren't a thing, so even in matchups between two zoners you end up with one of them doing nothing but The Get In On NRS Fireballs game, because the character who gets even the slightest favorable trade out of a projectile exchange completely invalidates the other characters projectiles and they're left doing the block and scoot for 10 seconds before they get close enough to threaten with anything meaningful. What's weird is they basically "fixed" this in MKX with the run and I don't really see a good reason why they wouldn't put it in this game other than to have an arbitrary thing differentiating them.

I think you'd have to use the stamina meter if you used the run, and they definitely want you to be throwing things and throwing people INTO things a lot more in this game. I'm actually kind of surprised the roll costs 2 bars. 1 seems sufficient.

*picks lvl 20 Black Canary in ranked online* *opponent disconnects* I'm not very good or anything Mr or Mrs ranked mode opponent, she's only lvl 20 because she was the first character I learned (some of) the moves for and have been doing all my multiverse with. In other news, I can beat every other AI opponent, though sometimes not by much, but Robin kicks my rear end at least 3 times before I eke out a win, and have missed score boxes just by that little score loss for a loss  .

1 bar roll would be quite the improvement in this game given how fast it is. You're still burning meter to make up for poor movement/zone trading options though which adds up later in the match when clashes start happening.

Awww poo poo my man Andy you were not kidding, that combo does like half a life bar. I was playing unranked and did it twice on a dr fate until he started to backdash everywhere so the last round i just laser poked him from the skies the whole round. I'm getting a little more comfortable with the systems, thanks everyone for your help so far.
