e) I actually forgot another winner, Andrea Dovizioso won the 2009 British GP, but in my defense, Dovizioso is maybe the most forgettable rider ever.

So, I hosed up cause this entire time I was thinking of Melandri and not Dovi. I actually can't think of anything when I think Dovi. Huh.

Andrea Iannone was pretty much Maldanado last year, so Dovi gets sympathy points

Okay, not to be alarmist, but to me, Skip Barber possibly going under is a death knell if I ever heard one. Welp, let's see where US racing ends up in 20 years or so...

I like Dovi, but I got into racing the year he was getting screwed by Repsol and competing with Marco Simoncelli on similar machinery. I even have a half-drawn bit of fanart of the two of them, which I stopped working on later in the season when Sic died. So yeah, Dovi's sub-alien level, but dude has a lightweight championship, and he's always been a good factory rider in whatever team puts a bike under him.

So much this. I have a Capirex shirt just because that livery was so nice looking.

Dovi exists to make up the numbers and for Ducati to have an Italian in the seat. He's not bad but he's not nearly as good as he should be for the hype he gets, imo.

With motorcycles, it was because of the formula moving away from ridiculously overpowered 500cc two-strokes that only American and Australian dirt-trackers could ride, to the easier big-bang-equipped 500ccs, and then the traction control-equipped 4-strokes that suited the European riders much better.

I loved some motogp back in the 500cc days.

Hope you're having an amazing day

My first MotoGP race was some time in 2005-2006 or so, I remember it well because Rossi was getting very shoulder bargey with that Spanish chap. It might have been in Spain too. Buggered if I can remember any more details beyond that other than thinking "well that was awesome"

FYI the Kimoa glasses are spectacular. The $50 customs fee I had to pay however was not.

Reaching back a bit here, but why did you get charged fees? US Customs upped the personal threshold for duties last year to $800, which those Kimoa sunglasses are way under (unless you ordered, like, seven pairs).

F1DriverQuidenBerg

I'm in Canada which I'm sure others can confirm is just some sort of wild west for customs charges and praying that it just gets passed off to Canada Post upon entering the country. The big ones will charge you a brokerage fee, so you kind of expect it if you shipped with them before but as I said, DHL's parent company never hit me with it so I was kinda shocked when it came up. UPS is by far the worst and it's practically racketeering.

Wirth1000

Yeah I think it was UPS for me too that asked for it right at the door. Years ago DHL sent me an invoice which I never paid and didn't ever hear back from them ever again. I always try to buy poo poo that's shipped from within Canada now.

F1DriverQuidenBerg
Jan 19, 2014

It was a lot better proposition when the dollar was at par with the US and even if you got hit with the brokerage fee you pretty much broke even thanks to how badly they were price gouging up here. The only stuff I do international now is kart stuff and that's cause I'd end up paying 2-3x what I pay if I stay within Canada.

And yeah UPS forgot to charge me once and threatened to put me into collections over $70 and I basically laughed at them and said to go ahead I'm sure PR will love seeing that on the news.

DHL caught me on that one time. 50ish dollars on some shirts from England and massive import fees at the door that were never mentioned before...

Where's the nearest golf course? I have to shit.
I once had a video card that I had to return to the vendor in the US due to faulty silicon, then had to return it again due to the same fault. The second time they just sent me a newer equivalent SKU but both times I shipped it I got hit with over $90 in brokerage and shipping, for something that I was returning for service. I tried to argue with both UPS and FedEx that it shouldn't cost anywhere near that much as it was a merchandise exchange but they didn't give a gently caress. If I didn't live 6 hours away from the border I would have done the brokerage myself.
