I think I will continue
watching this twilight world
as long as time flows.
The best part though, is how she specifically calls out the scene where Lucoa gets carted off the beach.
I, for one, thought it was one of the most self-aware (and seemingly self-conscious) bits in the show. Can't remember if it happened in the manga.

Like... everyone knows there's too much boob in the show. I like anime boob as much as the next guy (depending on who the next guy is), but/and? the self-conscious, "hahahah too much boob here, y'all!" bit hit perfectly for me.

I don't think Lucoa was in the beach chapter in the manga, but I could be wrong, it's been a while since I read that one.

I can only picture the writer as Planet of the Apes/Soylent Green era Charlton Heston, manically running around the cafe, grabbing people by the shoulders. Screaming "Don't you understand? Don't you see it? It's a boob anime! Maidragon is full of boobs!" into their blank, uncomprehending faces.

I think the anime's good. A bit hard to make a blanket recommendation tho.

the funny thing is that if boobs were the issue, I wouldn't recommend klk either

Fangz posted:

Well, the show is debatably quite saccharine and some people don't like that.

klk certainly almost got as earnest as this anime

but not half as saccharine

Interviews with Monster Girls has a different story but it's just as sweet. I wonder if the roommate watched that as well.

Holy poo poo that was hilarious to read.

Why the gently caress are all these people enjoying this maid Cafe??
Calling some one out on their inappropriate behaviour is the same as ignoring it!!
Kill la Kill is better than this because it's not so pointedly fanservicey!!

I loving loved Kill la Kill, but it was a bad sexed up anime.

Also Interviews with Monster girls is great.

Outside of maybe a handful of fanservicey points, the show was one of the most accurate representations of the issues that individuals with disabilities face in any form of media.

Considering that's by far the most fanservice-y thing in the entire show, sure. The entire other five-ish hours of the series were sweet and fun.

Regarding the maid cafe article, now I almost want them to have put Iruru in the series just to see how she reacts to THAT.

Haha wow. It's literally "Stop liking things I don't like!" and she drags her room mate off to try and berate him into not liking the show. Then at the end casually tosses out that she loves Kill La Kill and it's okay to ignore the fan service in that, but not this.

I had the same thoughts. The article feels artificial and insincere, but that's cheap Kotaku clickbait for you.

Good show. Great animation, over-the-top self-aware fanservice, good themes of friend ship, devotion and family, though the show needed more Faffy and his boyfriend.

The only thing that bothered me was, what's with Kobayashi's eyes?
