There just doesn't exist any other multi-bodycount inducing terrorism in Europe on a regular basis other than Islamic terrorism right now. And most of the posters here are European/Western. We have Breivik in 2011, as awful as he is, but he can not alone establish a pattern. The IRA and other separatist terrorr groups are a generation or two past, on the other hand. They won't strike at your night grill next week. Islamic terrorism, be as it may that some of the perps are second generation migrants, has been imported very recently (unlike Irish or Basque grievances for example) and it is current and re-current. People are right to think if we made a mistake and to worry? Hey I swear, if there was the Army of Jesus Christ the Great in the Middle-East, destablizing cities with millions, throwing dudes off buildings for being gay, skinning people alive and selling teenagers to slavery, yep people would be "gently caress this Christian army poo poo and gently caress that religion" (no matter how many forms of the religion exist) and not because they were racist. Actually, there are even now people who say this, even though no such army exists they just hate christians on tumblr but I digress... If there were attacks in Europe by migrants from Nazi-Germany (not possible, let's say imaginary area from Middle/Far-East), who shouted "SHIVA IS GREAT!" or "JESUS IS GREAT!" or "BUDDHA IS GREAT!" and blew up or machigunned people in concerts or drove trucks into crowds regularly, Europeans would be quite distressed and think maybe these Jesus or Buddha guys and those who serve them are a problem and that there would be probably be a bigger problem at hand than "well ur just as likely to die from worms or lighting or falling of a roof". Dissident republicans have killed four people in the last 8 years in terror attacks, and have tried to kill a lot more with their usually being a foiled bomb/rocket/gun attack every couple of months - the fact northern Ireland has a more persuasive security state than the rest of the UK kind of hampers them. Sure there was a high enough profile prosecution recently of a dissident republican who had infiltrated the army and was caught stockpiling explosive material with a direct plan to launch attacks. Its a thing

My favourite part of the whole "global jihad" thing is that the high-ranking jihadis in 2003 thought that they had pretty much lost the fight, right until the US and UK invaded Iraq lol Maybe if we treat muslims in the UK and Europe as if they are welcome members of society and don't try to pin the blame on a foreign looking "other" every time this happens we can cut down on these sorts of attacks?
