The very idea that Bernie wouldn't have won flies in the face of reason.

If you accept the following premises:

1) Trump won based off the white vote.

and

2) Bernie's campaign was white-centric

... and then consider the margins Hillary lost by, it is utterly indisputable that Bernie Would Have Won just based off of the locked in Dem states plus not losing several states to the white spite vote.

Bernie didn't even win the democratic primary in the entire rust belt, he wouldn't have won

It doesn't. The thing I was going to link but bone to pick beat me to, that is where we're getting our information from.

Right. People wouldn't vote for Bernie because they don't understand anything more complex than two syllables.

That's why they elected Barack Obama to two terms.

People moving in an increasingly politically stratified nation? Clinton got almost the exact same number of votes as Obama in 2012, 2016s turnout was barely lower.

It's possible, thought it's more important to look at the distribution than the aggregate, because NY and CA skew. But it's hard to deny:

My mistake, Trumbull actually voted for a _non-incumbent_ Republican for the first time since Al Smith.

Still, that means they voted for Adlai, Humphrey, and Mondale, and yet Hillary Clinton was a bridge too far. Lol.

to be extremely pedantic, the 2016 figures in that chart are from before the votes were completely counted and so a little lower than the final numbers. that being said, the claim that less people voted overall is correct (ref. eg. wikipedia, order by date). clinton got less votes than obama did, not only in the enthusiastic 2008 election but also his 2012 reelection. the folks who consistently vote R kept coming out - don didn't get many more votes than romney did - and the people enthused by obama being impossibly charismatic somehow couldn't turn out for clinton, for reasons that mankind was not meant to know.... because she trusted robby mook and Ada the Algorithm instead of the people on her campaign who had actually, like, won campaigns before

in conclusion, bernie would have won, and to deny this is foolishness. tormp piss + namaste

then there's a split screen shot of Trump's plane landing in DC

Yea i couldn't stop laughing. My wife and I were watching MSNBC on the television, streaming TYT (which was epic meltdowns), and Fox News on the other laptop. My second favorite thing behind TYT melting down was the 30 minutes where MSNBC obviously didn't have anything on the teleprompters for trump winning like this, so the talking heads tried to rationalize how this happen live on the air. In that 30 minutes, you actually saw the real people, not the corporate persona crafted by the news station.

i was visiting some friends in another city and it was pouring raining. like one of those southern rainstorms that just dumps on you for four hours straight at a time. i love my friends but also keep in mind that i'm a backbiting bad person and they are like real-life SJWs, so imagine me driving these people around who are freaking out and inconsolable while it's POURING. loving. RAIN. at night. it was a nightmare.

we first go to an election night party for a (hispanic) socialist city council candidate (who won) and while they weren't happy, they were more level-headed and steely about it. mostly hispanic and black crowd. like "drat. it's over. oh well" and onwards with the people's struggle.

after that, after stopping to pick up some food, we drove to a house with their (white) feminist friends. walk in we meet a group of people wearing hillary t-shirts sitting shell-shocked and weepy around a TV. i immediately recognized this situation as not good so made a hasty retreat into the garage to eat my meal. later one of the girls grabbed a trump pinata and a baseball bat, ran into the backyard and started smashing it on the ground while screaming YOU SON OF A BITCH! as the bat made a WHAP WHAP WHAP sound.

Clinton's numbers were impressively low considering who she was running against. If Clinton was pitted against Romney her turnout would have been even lower.
