Basically, Pirates 5 is the worst movie in the franchise. Depp phones it in, the two new characters are boring pretty people with not much character beyond "Daddy issues" and "knows astrology." gently caress, Geoffrey Rush and Javier Bardem can't do enough to move this film mediocre. See this movie if seeing Orlando Bloom reunite with his pirate family is the single most important part of your life. You will achieve nirvana in the last 10 seconds of the film, after dragging yourself through 1 hour and 59 minutes of everything else. It can't be overstated just how...sad the whole thing felt. There were character revelations and I...guess a twist about someone's parentage, and a lovely useless cameo by Paul McCartney, and I just hated every second of it. I saw Pirates 3 without seeing Pirates 2, and boy did it not stand alone. The ending had like 9 different pirate factions, and they each switched allegiances some of them more than once.
