my first job was at Avid when they owned M-Audio so I got a really nice condenser microphone w/ employee discount and now everyone on the call gets to hear my mouth noises

mixer boards are also great and I recommend getting one if you frequently WFH, I can mute myself with a physical button, hear myself in the headphones, and/or just play music into my headphones that noone on the call can hear (unless i screw up the mixing whoops)

but if you're on a call then you could just play music on your computer as normal, right?...

s4b also has a (roundabout) method to deafen yourself which is useful when you join the meeting and you can see they're not ready or anything so you can listen to your music
just need to fix the option so it doesn't duck your music because you have an active call.

just got off a five and a half hour call, 8pm to 1:30am, but it was ok because
1) at home, max comfort
2) just being support for a vendor who did all the real work
3) played video games between waiting on progress bars

i joked about coming in at noon today, but i was surprised to find out that my boss was okay with it, so now i'm reconsidering how much of a joke that was.
also i think the tech fell asleep near the end, but he's cool so i'm not gonna tattle on him. he works for integra and he's not incompetent so he probably doesn't get paid enough.

webex lets you record meetings

those meetings are saved as arf files

they provide a tool to convert the arf into mp4, but it works in real-time.

I don't think you can get GoToMeeting accounts w/out it. this guy definitely had it plus was paying for the 3rd party one.

maybe its some hosed up way to force everyone to dial in rather than let some people use computer audio? not sure why youd want to do that but they could have a really stupid reason
