This is an R+20 seat. If the Dems win this it implies in a nationwide election they would win something like 320 seats.

Montana's electoral makeup isn't the same as most red districts. They are more apt to vote D than most red states.

Also, it was R+20 when Hillary Clinton was on the ballot. Quist wasn't a perfect candidate himself, but he's more appealing than Clinton and you'd still expect that gap to narrow with a Republican in office, especially one that's as much of a shitshow as Trump.

We'll see what the final results are, but losing handedly in this environment to this candidate isn't a call for celebration.

A very narrow GOP win here is better than a Dem win in the sense that being the opposition is easier than governing and losing elections relieves you of responsibility for everything bad that happens ever in the eyes of the electorate but it's bad because it means that the GOP candidate will be governing

You have to realize that we are a cursed people.

Amos 2 says, "You only have I known of all the families of the Earth, therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities."

So until we come back to these commandments, until you come back to these commandments, we're gonna feel this way, we're gonna be under this curse. Because He said He's gonna punish us, Americans, we are the true children of Israel. We are the Israelites, according to the Bible. The children of Israel, He's gonna punish us for our iniquities, for our disobedience, because we chose to follow other gods that aren't His son, so the Lord, thy God, chasten thee. So, just like you chasten your own son, He's gonna chastise you because He loves you. So that's why we get chastised, that's why we're in the position we're in. Until we come back to these laws, statutes, and commandments, and do what the Lord said, these curses are gonna be upon us. We're gonna be at a lower state in this life that we live here in today, in the United States of America

Eh, arguable.

It's possible that anyone who's still voting republican is so far gone that this will just further normalize heinous poo poo and in two years Gianforte will be bragging about standing up to LIBERAL MEDIA.

Still, I honestly think it would be the smart move for Republicans in the House to refuse to seat the guy because burning one House seat doesn't matter and it would serve to norrmalize their image and give them a pretextual defense of democracy stance -- sure we support President Pussygrab but we draw the line HERE! (over there, where it doesn't matter). But they aren't smart enough for that, if that's even the smart move after all, I could be wrong, maybe everything's already too feral.

ryan said earlier today they want to let the people on montana decide their rep. they will let him join and they are going to, as pelosi put it, loving glow in the dark as yet another piece of poo poo is superglued to the gop brand.

1 (or 2) House seats won't matter on AHCA. We people who follow this stuff like addicts think the only thing that matters is the W but smart GOP operatives, and The Turtle is smart even if he's a coward, will piss their pants if there's yet another race that implies a Dem swing of 10-15 points, especially since the guy ran almost entirely on "AHCA BAD"

And this is what I'm talking about. There is no such thing as a "moral victory" to the out-of-work family of two who just lost their health insurance from the AHCA and, due to the medicaid roll backs, can't afford to keep their eldery parents alive and have to watch them go before their time.
