About 750 dollarydoos.

E: I should also say that literally all of those exotic car driving experiences are completely and utterly not worth the money they charge.

$750 will get you a full day in M4s and M3s with BMW's M Car Control Clinic which is well worth it
$750 will get you 90 minutes in the Porsche GT4 which doesn't sound like it's worth it
$1550 will get you a full day of the M School at either of BMW's performance centers (Thermal, CA and Greenville, SC)

No comment on whether the BMW school is worth it? I've considered it but that's a lot of cash - which will probably lead to me spending even more cash on a fast car.

My parents' 2005 Mercedes CLK350 just popped a check engine light. I think the thing has less than 50K miles. I hope it's not the balance shaft gear, something that engine is known for. I'll go down and pull the codes this weekend. Any tips dealing with this old barge?

I would say it's definitely worth it, it's the big brother to the M Car Control Clinic which is very cool and good, but I was trying to keep it to a value judgement on the $750 spend.

In my experience from looking at the auctions, you don't even have to light the match after dousing it in gasoline. The "spill" is enough to total it.

We live at the property she works at. I have three cars here now with the PT coming shortly. None of the current cars are an eyesore but they prefer residents to park inside.
It makes her look better to the higher ups if we have a clear driveway.

Why would it raise red flags? Its a rental property, they like weird stuff. I'm not allowed to work in the car with the garage door open either, is that a deal breaker as well?

Some cities have gone so far as to make that a part of city code.

Most of the rentals I've lived in went so far as to spell out what color my drapes/blinds had to be, one place even had designated times that I wasn't allowed to watch TV. God help you if you're caught checking the oil (or even opening the hood) at one place I lived at. Every apartment lease I've signed also stated that each resident was allowed to park 1 vehicle in the parking lot, and that no boats, trailers, big trucks, etc could be parked on the property (the place I'm at now also states the same, but they have dedicated boat and RV parking :psyduck: and one of my neighbors is an owner/operator who brings his truck home and parks it on the side of my building)

The place I'm at now doesn't really give two shits what I do so long as I don't generate complaints, my car doesn't look abandoned, and I can't leave my bicycle on the patio, even if it's locked up (annoying, but meh, it's a big place, bringing it inside isn't that big of a deal). Nothing in the lease prohibiting working on my car, nothing prohibiting window air conditioners (first apartment I've lived in that didn't prohibit them), nothing saying I have to have white blinds/drapes. Parking here is plentiful enough that they don't seem to give two shits how many cars people have.

I guess tl;dr is most rental properties have a bunch of rules about what you can and can't do

I had a mini cooper and a Porsche 914 before I got married and through the joys of compromise over time I've never had a project car again. You think you know what's up but you really don't. It doesn't feel like change and the relationship stays the same, but in retrospect, it's a change and no it doesn't.

I won the one day M car control clinicc it was great and probably worth ~750 for a day of throwing brand new M-cars around a track. The local BMW club does group trips to the M-school at pretty discounted rates. I haven't gone yet but I'm really tempted.

Stop, you're scaring me. So far she's supportive of my car obsession but wants me to build another garage so we can park the daily drivers in the attached garage and setup a large home gym there as well.

New grinding sound on the 320i noticed this morning. Other than that it's running great and I'm just trying to put miles on it before taking it to the mountains next weekend. Really need to do at least a garage alignment and borrow a set of corner scales.
