I think it's probably just a sort of mixing up humans and computers situation. Processing speed! Elasticity! More = better! Sort of like how you run across people who can not figure out why reduced synaptic pruning in autistic brains isn't Automatic GEEEEENIUS creation time, because if you keep all your synapses, you have more synapses, and you should be smarter! More = better! "Your brain isn't *actually* a computer, rear end in a top hat" is not an acceptable answer.
