Someone who wants socialism now is just a leftist, or part of the far left fringe if we're talking about American politics.

How does simply being a socialist make you equivalent to an organized group of virulent racists and Nazis that have coopted a major political party? bc that's what you're implying with that stupid label.

and if you seriously believe the two are at all equivalent you're an idiot, and gently caress you

No that's just extreme leftists and Marxists and stuff. The alt left doesn't exist because they're just Marxists and communists and they accept those labels. Nazis and fascists don't wanna use the label of Nazi and Fascist so they hide behind the label alt-right. That's literally why the term alt-right exists.

For the metaphor to be accurate, the "alt-left" would need to be literal Stalinists, not just people who'd like healthcare in the US to work the same way it does everywhere else in the civilised world.

I think Zuckerberg's motives are questionable but he is absolutely not an idiot, in any way, shape or form. The problem with the left is that so many view CEOs as worthless suits who don't contribute to their businesses when in fact many are actually brilliant strategic minds who can understand complex ideas and make hard choices as a result, while still allowing an ecosystem - a business - to thrive.

I don't support a Zuck candidacy so I'm not saying "he ran a business so he can run government", but you don't run a company like Facebook without having at least a higher than average intelligence, and Zuck has it. Whether you like it or not or whether you like what he stands for, or not.

The term "alt right" was mostly popularized by Richard Spencer. I really don't think anyone on the left has been trying to name themselves in his terms, the only usages of "alt left" I've seen have been poo poo like Hannity and other stalwart alt righters (i.e. white power advocates).

Dude, he described himself in 2010 in a party as a fish out of water who felt like he was undeserving of the stroke of luck he had in being able to poach Sandberg as COO. In person he is awkward as hell and appears not to have improved on that front. He has trouble eloquently answering questions off the cuff.

He's not a leader, and my opinion here is backed by a number of friends who have jogged the FB / Google / MS circuit before settling in with their long term gigs.

I don't believe there has either. And I don't agree with Hannity's label of it either, which I'd attribute to the real attempt to try and normalize the alt-right.

I don't agree with a single ioata of Trump's agenda, nor his blatant attempts to discriminate against women, minorities or the LGBTQ community as a whole, but sometimes I feel there is a sub-section of posters on here that I can't quantify that seem to act even more persecuted than any of these groups that seems to be a bit excessive.

Can anyone categorize them for me so I'm not making the mistake of lumping any of these others into the same basket?
