Pretty sure he's talking about the fact that every team has to have an All-Star and is asking who it's gonna be from the bad teams. Mark Redman was an all star for the Royals in a year he finished with a 5.71 ERA, although I don't know how he was doing at the break. Jack Armstrong is frequently mentioned in this convo, although he was definitely doing well at the break. However: quote:Sandy Alomar, Jr., when he actually played 100 games, had no trouble making an All-Star team. Even when he didn't he seemed to make teams, such as in 1995 when he played 51 games. I love Sandy to death but that's unacceptable. Daves=All-Star? quote:There have been a few reliever selections that have just been odd, mainly due to the over-reliance on saves as a great stat. Perhaps the most egregious selection of a reliever came in 2003, when Pirates closer Mike Williams was selected. Also, quote:The Texas Rangers finished in first place in 1996, and were led by ace Ken Hill, who had a great year. Despite that, he was snubbed, and instead teammate Roger Pavlik got the nod. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1241568-40-most-undeserving-mlb-all-stars-of-all-time El Gallinero Gros fucked around with this message at 05:55 on May 26, 2017 |

News: Red Sox pitching strikes out 20 Rangers, Craig Kimbrel ties MLB strikeouts-in-an-inning record with 4 Views: This season has been the very definition of a mixed bag but that's pretty cool to see in a non-Sale game

Yeah it looked slightly more impressive before I looked up how many people had done it, although it's still good company! What is slightly more impressive is that it's the second time Kimbrel has done it and he's only the 4th person to repeat the feat (Chuck Finley has 3 of them)

I was curious why the Red Sox are scrambling to find a competent first basemen when they still employ the services of one Brock Holt and apparently he's been on the DL due to crippling vertigo since April 21st. http://www.rotoworld.com/recent/mlb/7246/brock-holt

Knuckleballers are loving awesome. I can understand why people don't do it (harder of a pitch to master), but when one is on their game, it's amazing to watch people be baffled by a 60 mph pitch.

Forgot to post this last month...but my family and I went ancestor hunting in Chicago, where a large number of my predecessors emigrated to back in the day (I like to joke that we put the "Anderson" into "Andersonville"). But, despite the cold and the limited time before other activities we took a detour to visit an old friend of my dad's, who grew up in the bleachers watching him, Santo, Williams, et alia

We have a new one for those between-innings blooper reels courtesy of Steven Souza Jr. (who actually made an awesome jumping catch earlier in the game) https://twitter.com/Cut4/status/868328011082473472 He claims he lost it in the lights and dove so it wouldn't hit him in the face.
