Bakugou's dialogue/inner monologue during most of his fights imply he's able to control how powerful the explosions are to a certain degree, and that he usually dials it back a bit when fighting another person he doesn't intend to maim or otherwise seriously injure. Likely a lot of what he was doing to Uraraka was a lot of concussive force and flashiness, combined with Uraraka (who isn't a fighter at heart the way Bakugou is) also sort of tiring herself out trying to execute her plan.

The best part of tournaments is cutting to the stands and having less capable characters misread the situation, and then more capable characters correct them. Every time it's great. It happens like 8000 times in Dragonball but it never gets old, and it's good here too.
