At least in publicly held large companies the CEOs have to deal with keeping shareholders and corporate boards happy. By all accounts Trump runs his businesses exactly like many sole proprietorships do: exclusively for his own benefit and according to whatever whims he has at the moment. That style of management wouldn;t work for a town mayor, much less the presidency.
