That is an unfair and inaccurate characterization of my views! Hillary made mistakes. The Democrats made mistakes. But they did not rig the primary. Bernie did it himself by running against the legacy of the popular first black president, who, need I remind you, also took on Hillary in a Democratic primary but managed to win.

Avirosb posted:Hacking an election and disinformation campaigns are two different things. It's also not really contradictory at all. "Russians influenced the general election in favor of Clinton's opponent. Also, they smeared Clinton beforehand." And that second one was an allegation roughly being made by Bernie supporters. Now I don't know if they ever ended up tracking them down from Macedonia and elsewhere straight back to Russia, so it is very possible those people were just doing what got them paid.

Except for the part where Trump campaigned in key states while Clinton ... didn't, not to mention the bit where on national television Clinton flat-out told a voter "my policies will put you out of a job." Literally: she answered "we're going to put a lot of coal miners out of work" to a coal miner asking about what she would to to help people like him. Trump had a superior campaign strategy to Clinton, whose strategy appeared to be "of course I'm going to win, time to try and run up the score."

I don't think Zuck will run for President (and also really hope he doesn't) but that church picture still irks me for multiple reasons How many times would an actual Jewish presidential candidate have to stand in a church trying to look pious for a camera? And how many photo-ops does the average black church have to suffer from presidential hopefuls on a regular basis? Kit Walker posted:"...and into a better job since your current job is going to disappear soon regardless of anything we do" But that's not what she said. She lead with "we're going to put a lot of coal miners out of a job" - specifically stating that her policies were going to be doing it, not general trends. (Of course, general trends are killing the coal industry.) She should have led with "we're going to create job training programs" and then explained how the coal industry was faltering. She didn't. She flat-out said, and this is a direct quote, "we're going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business." Not "the market" is doing it or that it's going to happen, that she was going to do it.

Back from a few pages ago, but Rall is still doing just that. A choice quote: Todd Roll posted:When you think about her policy history, this rings true. After all, she voted to overthrow the secular socialist dictator of Iraq in 2003, lost the presidency in 2008 because of that vote, yet then as secretary of state advised Obama to arm and fund the radical jihadis against the secular socialist dictators of Libya and Syria. About which — despite creating two failed states — she has no regrets. There’s really no other way to put this, so I’ll just say it: this makes her an idiot.

Yes, the Clinton campaign was imperfect. The Trump campaign was a horrifyingly badly run trainwreck. Yes, they did blunder into a single good strategy in coal country but so what? There aren't enough ex-coal miners in the USA to swing an election. If you go into a test at school and answer 1/20 questions right and still pass the exam, while your friend answers 17/20 questions right and fails, you need to consider whether something got screwed up a little somewhere.
