The backgrounds in that show are often like theater set backgrounds. They're more to set mood than to provide any actual locational context.

I did it, I finished Shirokuma Cafe. I've been reading the manga and it started kinda rough but once it settled in it got really cute. I expect the show to just be cute slice of life-ish shounen ai w/one already established couple because it's based on a sequel and they get together in the first manga (hitorijime boyfriend which is not that good and I'm glad they just skipped it).

fyi the main couple is teacher x student but they met in the prequel before the older guy was a teacher so it's more of an already established thing than a teacher creeping on a kid; the guy is a delinquent and asks to be the older guy's underling because he's a strong fighter.
