gimme the GOD drat candy posted:i didn't really know who tyrannus was but that sort of bizarre, convoluted backstory is extremely my poo poo Even though people associate convoluted backstories with the 90s with the X-men and Clone saga and all that, a lot of early marvel villains have really convoluted backstories simply because the writers didn't expect to bring them back after killing them off so they have to come up with some nonsense reason they survived, and usually they're like "Well I might as well try to make him more interesting this time around" and add some weird new gimmicks. You do that 3-4 times and you end up with a huge mess.

He's wavered back and forth between huge prick and antisocial but sympathetic neutral character. It basically depends on how you feel about his army of slave midgets, the moloids. Some writers are like "They're dumb primal weirdoes and need a leader and he takes care of them" and others are like "Slavery is always wrong, gently caress the mole man."
