The eel family tree includes a lot of freaky-looking gits. Consider the Gulper Eel. It's sort of like a deep-sea pelican with rows of needles for teeth   The freaky-deaky picture looks sort of like a Green Moray with a stubby snout.  It doesn't appear to be trivial to find source information for that image, but it looks like there others like it; seems to be a crop of the second image, which is supposed to be an eel living in an aquarium.   The eyeless wonder actually seems to be some sort of goby fish; apparently there's a search on for live specimens in a few places, with the belief that there may be multiple undescribed species.  Elbow squid (apparently more properly termed big-fin squid) are still a strong contender for my favorite freaky undersea life. http://i.imgur.com/uSNxhoL.mp4
