Tirico is great and should be celebrated. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLEXBPwF9_g I was mad when he went to NBC because I felt the Tirico/Brown combination was the greatest NBA broadcast duo, and he's basically gone completely from all tennis coverage now too.

Tirico was brought on to be the heir apparent to Al Michaels (and do other things but that's the big one), he doesn't leave MNF for any other reason. One of those other things was TNF but the NFL threw a hissy-fit over that for some stupid reason. Also Al's 72, he's not going to be around forever and so NBC's trying to sow up the future with the possibility that Al's given them an expiration date. If he hasn't, well I said this before but it's not like NBC hasn't punched themselves in the dick over high-profile transitions before so it's worth keeping an eye on for that alone.

Tirico is also Bob Costas' successor -- he's already taking over the Olympic desk starting with next year's winter games. NBC clearly has big plans for him. I'm sure he won't complain about slumming it on TNF for a year or two if he gets to be the face of the network in the near future.
