CoolCab posted:Also, it's only half of the game, which is why it's so loving awful to play. There's supposed to be a second stage where owning property and money is disadvantageous and the tension is surviving the capitalist stage without snowballing so much you lose in the second (which is religiously themed, iirc?) Instead there's just a big family argument and everyone goes away feeling unfulfilled, which is what the current consensus on late capitalism seems to be. e: 343 was when St. Nicholas died, which is why we play classic board games at Christmas to remember his suffering.

What, the rhetoric that we need to pressure muslims to nebulously "integrate more" and report extremism betterer? Or is the objection to the statement that only a very small number of muslims are terrorists? Because the latter is true and the former is already pretty bad.

The thing with monopoly is that people change the rules and it keeps too much money in the game and it prolongs the end for hours. Don't have fines go to free parking and don't have unlimited supplies of houses and hotels. Keep the resources scarce and the weak will be crushed quickly. That's how the game is designed to be played.

Coattail riding dullard. I don't mind David Mitchell but I'm not a fan ether. I get bored of his "There has been a slight infraction of politeness and I'm going to get really angry about it" shtick.

More or less, yes, but "spiv economy" as a phrase is going to resonate pretty strongly with a lot of working class temporarily embarrassed millionaires who Tebbit managed to bring into the Tory fold. If Brexit wasn't completely muddying the waters that would have been a really good line for Labour to take to try and win those types back, as it's a prefect criticism of the modern economy and the word still carries a lot of power round Basildon.
