What I do when 6 people want to do a nightfall is to divide it in two groups. Then we smoothly leave the suggestion that IS NOT A RACE and the two teams are NOT competing to see what one complete the nightfall first. Not at all. Its usually funny that way, with 6 persons in VoIP.

Took me 34 nightfall runs. Its annoying as poo poo now. Its not fun to use and it has barely any flinch under fire compared to other snipers. It should have extra flinch.

These are the same people that turned around and made Destiny. Like, the game where the only NPCs you interact with are standing around in a social space. WTF? People definitely would have remembered the Destiny story missions a lot more fondly if you'd had Nathan Fillion or Lance Reddick or Claudia Black fighting alongside you and cracking wise along the way. There aren't even any major character deaths to sucker punch you emotionally. I think the closest to poignancy that Destiny got was the reveal of the final fate of the Iron Lords but even that was weak.

All that was probably triaged during the worst of development. It was probably the right call- good shooting and encounters with bad storytelling is better than the other way around for a game like this. What they should have done with all the planets was what they did with the dreadnaught in TTK, which was to withhold patrol mode until a destination's story was fully settled. Then they have the freedom to make major changes to the region over the course of the missions and don't have to be compatible with free roam all the time. Seal stuff off until it's earned, put things in the world that random players not on missions don't have to see, etc. Hopefully the open world aspect of D2 means it's closer to this.

Odds are Destiny was planned as something much bigger than we got and they where forced to release it as it was. And odds are Destiny 2 will have a lot of stupid poo poo that people are going to absolutely hate that will wind up getting rolled back or changed just in time to gently caress everything up again for The Taken Rasputin or whatever.
