I find it annoying that people keep treating Trump's flailing as some sort of plan to distract us from other issues. Yes the clowns in a circus might use comic ineptitude to draw attention to allow the next act to set up, but at this point the trump team has pulled the equivalent of running out with flaming pants causing the elephants to trample the audience and driving the clown car into the pole turning the tight rope walker to be a crater with a mush of organs in the bottom. This isn't part of the act, they are just that stupid.

I don't necessarily give a poo poo what's in some white supremacist's heart of hearts, but if they ever try to enact it on anyone, they need to be stopped. It appears some people here are under the impression that the Nazi's rise to power was only opposed by non-confrontational protest rather than the constant city-wide street brawls between armed militias that saw dozens of people die on a daily basis. The KPD and the SPD tried fighting the Nazis at their own game. God bless them for trying, I mean that, but it didn't work. What would have worked is if they put aside their differences and worked together politically but they distrusted each other more than they hated the Nazis and refused to get along. By the time they agreed to cooperate it was too late.

The reason there are so many leaks from the alphabet soup agencies is because Trump is trying to muscle his way into controlling them even though they work independently of the White House. There is no way career professionals at the FBI and CIA don't take what Trump is doing to them as an insult when they have worked all their lives to get where they are and are now expected to be toadies for a man who has no desire to protect the country.

But "If only the White Roses punched back" is a misreading of history I'm not familiar with the exact quote but I know he similarly described the Munich Agreement along the same lines. That if the Allies had refused to budge over the Sudetenland that they would have won an early war. Which is something that occurred 5 years after he came to power so it has nothing to do with the rise of the Nazis. They were already firmly in power.
