I checked and it seems like places like Long Island and Edmonton used to win a lot of cups, so it doesn't really seem very prestigious.

they even let the carolina hurricanes win it once, kind of weird that everybody gets so bent out of shape around here about who wins it when you look down the list and see they'll give one to almost anybody. now the president's trophy, on the other hand...thats a real league championship trophy right there

I don't really have it in me to poo poo post in this final because the Preds are easily my second favorite team seeing how I live in Tennessee. If the Pens do lose I'll be happy at least for our Thufir and Mich who I have met at several Preds games :toot:

I also can skate backwards (or could at one point in my life anyway), and I once skated with Phil Borque back when he was a player for the pens. Ok that's probably a stretch; he was skating with some mighty might team and we were renting the ice after them to play bad scrub hockey, and he was still on the ice when we got on.

I am bad playoff poster, but I have determined that watching SAS vs baggy pants Philly guy is kinda like watching Geno vs PK.

I know it's not "small" but I'm 6'3" (and weigh more than 195) and I don't feel like I'd look as big as him out on the ice. I kind of consider 6' to be an "average" for an athlete and I wouldn't have thought 3 inches would make someone look huge unless the norm in hockey is more like 5'9" or something.

The average hockey player is like 6'1" and like 200lbs, but goalies tend to be much taller and there's outliers in skaters too. Connor Sheary is like 5'8" 175lbs.

Though skates add a few inches too.

He played alright vs Ottawa he just kept missing the net/getting stoned by Andy. He could have had another two-three goals in that series. He wasn't playing great by any means but he was getting chances still.

Anything below 5'10" is considered undersized in the NHL. Gerbe played in Europe this past season, so I guess the shortest NHL player is a tie between Zucc, Desharnais, and the Gionta brothers. I could swear they used to list Zucc as 5'6" a few years ago, but I'm pretty sure these numbers are inflated anyway. They also list Zucc at 179lbs, which maaaybe he weighs after a full off-season of weight training, otherwise it seems a little high.

I wish I cared enough about this series to give a spirited meltdown post to give the Preds some good luck, but unfortunately I don't. :smith:

What I will say is that the series isn't over. Preds still have 3 games at home, they're 7-1 at home and if they can do the needful and win all 3 games, then they just need 1 win in Pittsburgh to win the Cup. So all hope isn't lost just yet.

The Predators home ice advantage thing has been overhyped to death tbh and doesn't come close to covering up their myriad other shortcomings, such as their Conn Smythe candidate goalie being complete dogshit vs. the Penguins not just now but for his entire career

The last time Lavy had a team in the finals, they were down 0-2 before coming back home and tying the series. I'm not sure what happened afterward, it's probably not important, but it's not over just yet!!!

Hell, the first time he had a team in the final he had home ice advantage and went up 2-0 in the series that eventually went 7. Strange how the season was cancelled before Game 7 happened, though.

Yeah, the Preds can still come back, but I don't think they can bank on just home ice advantage.

Pekka just needs to be better. Holy poo poo does Pekka need to be better.

Preds need to not loving collapse.

Preds need to close their chances and get on the scoreboard.

Game 2 was really bad for Nashville, they have to do better or it's a 5 game series.
