Over the years we have spent literally billions of pounds on Trident and we have never needed to fire it in defense of this country

And now the government want to replace it with a new one? This is terrible value for money.

That's why I won't be voting for any party that won't commit to using Trident within their first term in office

The thing that they should hammer home is the 'Theresa May is a coward' angle. She didn't show up to the leader's debate, she ducked out of Women's Hour and she imposed this bizarre format on the show to ensure she'd never have an actual discussion with Corbyn. There's no way you can claim to be stronger than someone when you keep running from them like this.

Bit surprised by the negativity in this thread. Explain to me, like an idiot, why it's so bad? He didn't even lose a lot of the audience over his answers. Unless everybody was watching a different show to me, one of the loudest rounds of applause that evening was the girl saying she was shocked at the murderous intent of the room. Far louder than all the :golfclap: for May.

It's more that May's section was incredibly tedious but she almost exclusively got to talk about policy and government. The Tories have been in power for 7 years but she got to talk like this was a new party trying to get elected to change things - and when she was brought up on their record, she was able to flit between weakeconomy/toughchoices and strongeconomy/muchinvestment duality as it suited the argument she wanted to make. The very few attacks from the audience were either deflected into another point or just ablated through sheer tedium as she droned on and on

Meanwhile Corbyn had about half his questions outright attacking him over nuclear weapons, the IRA and Hamas, and where is teh money coming from despite the manifesto being costed, unlike the Tories who are literally saying 'our plan is like, ideas' - and there were multiple people hitting each of these points. Whatever the audience makeup, the QT team chose those questioners and knew what they were going to ask. Did we really need several people repeating the same accusations and reckons as the last person? There were some decent questions in there but a lot of it was people queueing up to have a pop

Im late as hell but I can answer this. Baby checks/one-stop checks can (mostly) only pick up those caused by a genetic disorder. A learning disability is (medically) characterised by
1. IQ below 70
2. Causing delays in development
3. Diagnosed before age 18.

And this is before bringing in learning difficulties such as autism or add into the mix

Schools need training in order to both identify potential learning difficulties/disabilities (this information could then be used to aid diagnosis), as well as training in order to best support equality of access to mainstream education

Absolutely, I was reacting to her garbled bollocks that made it sound like she has no clue about the difference between any non-physical disabilities and mental health issues. I was wishing somone had come back to her and asked her how funnelling resources into schools would help children with Down's syndrome or ASD with learning difficulties who already had diagnosis and are in special schools. I'm seeing nothing that would reverse the problems the Tory party has created when they decided to cancel respite funding because of "austerity" meaning we are all in it together or whatever bollocks they spouted while giving theselves a pay rise.

Nurse should have hit her with that as well.

They didn't really get a chance to come back, the lady nurse was trying to reply at the end but Dimbleby moved on. I'm glad shouty man nurse got to call her out a little but May pretty much got to talk poo poo and pretend everything is fine, actually

The one thing that did annoy me was that Dimbleby moved on from the nurse even though she wanted to come back. Then when it was time for nukechat the audience member was finished but he decided to press Corbyn repeatedly for a better response. He's well within his rights to do so, but it would have been nice to see May come under the same pressure to actually answer the question.

Corbyn didn't do badly. He just didn't do as well as he has been. Apparently, this is the end of him. Did people really think he'd get to election day unscathed? Still don't think most people give a gently caress about nukes the same way that audience did. If he wins or not it won't be down to that shitshow.

Even most of the audience probably don't give that much of a gently caress about nukes, given the widespread applause for the woman who tried to save Corbyn at the end. It's just that the ones that did care were very much of the finger-pointing angry accusing type.

It's less the actual nuke poo poo and more the way he was publicly dogpiled and attacked repeatedly for the last 20 minutes or whatever. May (a person who is actually responsible for harming the country and the people living in it) was pretty much able to present herself as this very boring but serious politician, and that's her entire plan for success - especially when she's making everything about brexit and the negotiations

For people who are undecided it makes the status quo look like a safer bet. Who knows how much effect it will have but it could have been a lot worse for May and a lot better for Corbyn

Well for one, it's actually a question mark what will happen to EU citizens living in the UK & UK citizens living in EU when the Brexit negotiations are complete. You could uproot all your poo poo only to find out 2 years later that Theresa May & David Davies & Liam Fox cocked up the negotiations so bad that the EU countries will make life hard for British immigrants to stay.

Also, some people really aren't comfortable with moving to a foreign land where they can't speak the language, and as a nation we're pretty poo poo at speaking foreign languages. And then there's the whole "living near your support system" thing. It's not really that practical for people to uproot if they have a kid in school etc.

And plenty of us simply can't afford the costs that moving to another country entail.
